Pretty much this. A lot of hate for Wilder in this forum. Fight was competitive but the judges scored it proper and in an Arena full of Pollacks which could have swayed the judges to score for Szpilka.
yeah but so what? I still enjoyed the fight, I will still watch his next fight with interest. so what if he looses, most end up loosing sooner or later. the guys buzzsaw right makes his fights interesting even when he misses imo :rasta
77-75 Wilder. All rounds were competitive, which makes it hard. But no way was Spzilka winning by any unbiased judgement. Sometimes when a guy does better than we think, we give him rounds because of that. Wilder struggled, but he was up.
Wilder put in another less than impressive performance against sub-world class opposition? What's new. The HW scene needs this clown removed from the picture and quickly. As I've said before he's the real life Union Cane.
"Union Cane" was a real Heavyweight boxer named Mike Williams... go watch him get KO'd by Corrie Sanders on youtube... he had a glass jaw fo' sho'!!!
I have watched this fight 3 times - it was competitive and entertaining, with an crazy ending. Great show. The first time I watched it, I had it for Szpilka at the time of the stoppage. So after seeing the official cards I rewatched it twice, to see if there was something that I wasn't seeing. My conclusion, as an unbiased observer, is that I cannot see how Wilder can be given any more than 3 rounds? 5-3 for Szpilka is the most generous score I can give Wilder. He was also in the process of losing the 9th until he wiped Szpilka out! I really don't understand the scorecards for this fight. Still, it was entertaining, and congratulations to Deontay for pullimng it out of the bag against a tricky opponent who (in my opinion) he was losing to!
