Me neither. They just want to see him lose, and if he has to go up to LHW for that to happen, so be it
he can stay as long as he wants, and ought to in my opinion. but he really should face canelo to become lineal if he wants to be compared to other lineals. that said unified is pretty good.
He doesn't have to move up but it would limit his options and his legacy. Boxing has moved on from Monzon and Hagler's time ruling one division isn't enough anymore unless that division is stacked. The current middleweight division is weak and has been for a long time, in part because of the establishment and success of the super middleweight division which has seen boxers that used to force themselves down to middleweight fight at a more natural weight and therefore thin out the talent at middleweight. When the jump up from middleweight was 15lbs it was something Hagler and Monzon wouldn't have likely contemplated especially as they had more than enough big fights in their own division. Golovkin isn't in the same situation, he's in an era where the jump up in weight is only 8bs and other than Canelo he doesn't have any options for a big fight. So if he wants to chase the big fights he will eventually have to move up.
:deal These clowns want GGG to move up because the middleweight division is supposed to be a bumland according to them. Besides Golovkin the middleweight division have Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders, Eubank, Quillin, Lee. The SMW division have DeGeale, Jack, Abraham, Dirrell and Ramirez. Yeah, the SMW division seems to be so much better... Not.
Well he has put out feelers to fight at over 160. Froch is "too big, too strong" but sadly, unable to decide on the fight. Chavez Jr decided he had better things to do when the time came to actually sign. Ward has been flirting like crazy but decided the best time to make an offer was when Lemieux was signed and sealed and has since moved up to the next division. Hey, GGG tried.
The only thing better about SMW is that opponents are bigger, they don't see anyone his own size beating GGG.
True, it's not like he has totally refused to move up, it would just take the right fight and circumstances, such as enough money to make it worth his while to move up like with Froch and Chavez Jr. If he does move up it will be to chase a bigger payday after clearing out middleweight. With Canelo being a title holder he has no reason to move up as that's the most lucrative fight available at this time.
Because he and his team are the ones that called out the big names in the upper weight divisions only to back off when they got called back. Hagler and Monzon forced big names to notice them by taking on all comers and wiping the division clean in serious fights. Many of those fights they were very close on the odds. GGG is merely feasting on bums he goes in as a 100-1 or 50-1 favorite against yet complains he's being ignored by the big names. No big name is interested in handing free donations because they didn't get free donations either, they earned their major spots by taking major risks themselves.
