Yeah, even allowing for the fact that Mayweather got famous (or rather, hit the peak of his fame) in the social media era - Murphy is a cultural icon, transcending more demographics than whatever crossover recognition Mayweather has outside boxing (and being the most famous boxer in the world is faint praise given the sport's niche status in the mainstream for the last several generations) - maybe a top 5 biggest celebrity in the African-American community, as well as in comedy, period, in the last 20-30 years...and was in a ton of successful movies over a very long period of time.
