The scorecards are unrealistic. EDIT: Guerrero won this fight Garcia consistently missed with his jab. You don't get points for missing.
At the end of the 7th I had it 4-3 for Garcia. I think 7-5 to Garcia in the end would be the most accurate score.
I think the punch stats by round would have Guerrero ahead. Sheer volume per round. Jabs and power punches. Also Guerrero landed a lot in the first round where Garcia landed almost nothing.
After a rough start I had Garcia up 4-3 in 7 and 7-5 overall Guerrero lost steam kept missing and ate big punches
I have no problem with the decision. Guerrero started off very well, but then all of a sudden there was a momentum change around the 6th round. I figured he's just taking a break and then he'll continue where he left off. It never came. I wonder if Guerrero's loyalty to his dad cost him to become a world champ (Yes, he was a champ at the lower weights, but fought no one that was world class, except for Salido). If he had a world class trainer, for example a Garcia or Gossen, would he have changed his style a bit? I know he wants to make it a rough and tumble affair, but by doing so, he smothers a lot of his work and doesn't get good leverage on his shots. He also didn't really invest in any body work, which would have slowed down Garcia a lot. Last of all, his defense is horrible. His dad clearly is in over his head and needs to go. Even though it might be too late, I'd like to see Guerrero train with someone who can give him advice during a fight. If Garcia isn't careful, he will also fall into this "what if" category.
Yea Guerrero won the 1rst half with jab to the body, Garcia wasn't doing anything first 6 rounds he looked lost. 2nd half he knew his power wasn't making Guerrero flinch, didn't have the effect to back him off as Thurman mentioned, so he started using a lead right hand, which he should of been using since the beginning against a southpaw. I think a split decision or draw is fair, no way Garcia threw or landed more punches than Guerrero the cards are way off. Floyd had Guerrero winning, that's how close the fight was.
True compubox stats were absolute rubbish. Don't see a case for a Guerrero win though. Draw would be feasible but generous. Most Garcia rounds were clear as day.
I had it exactly the same as the judges, Guerrero was competitive for the first half of the fight but through rounds 7-11 took an absolute beating really.
Yeah I mean why even bother watching a fight when you can just score it afterwards using the punch stats
Punch stats are an interesting aside but people place too much by them. Power punches? Great.... but how do you know they are unless you're taking them? And who's collating these stats? How accurate are they and how neutral is the person or people recording them? At least we know the names of the judges, but not that of the boffin at a PC pressing keys. Garcia won the fight.
