Wait a minute... Your only proof to say that liston did hit harder was the word of 3 bums WHAT FOREMAN STTOPED FASTER. So having better %ko against better oposition. Looking much more devastating on film, hitting the heavybag much harder than liston( sonny has the fame of destroying heavybags before foreman was on the scene, and several writters and journalists who saw both men training said that foreman did hit harder.plus in the book of ali "the soul of a butterfly"that i got. Ali said " foreman was the most powerful guy i ever fought" "a Frazier was the toughest and listón the scariest". According to you the word of 3 tomato cans is more evidence than the facts lol
Liston never beat anyone remotely close to Vitali. He feasted on smaller men, some of whom were passed their prime, others had glass jaws. His competition pre- Ali was tailor made for him in most cases. Not Sonny's fault, but it's true. He was always going to look good vs those types. Vitali was too tall and skilled. Also rather mobile. Liston would have a hard time reaching him. Liston's ability to take bombs over the course of a fight is un-proven. Ali rocked him before he quit. I favor Vitali here.

Ok, lets take a look at Wepners credibility shall we? He was 30 when he was stopped by a 20 year old Foreman, and 31 when he was stopped by a 40 year old ( at least ) Liston. It isn't uncommon for guys to overly praise their elders, particularly if the guy was in his prime when they themselves were kids, as would be the case with Wepner in the 50's. Next 2 Liston / Foreman common opponents please.
If Liston thinks Ali hit hard, Vitali would be news for him. This is a 250lb ripped superheavy who is mobile, can jab, knows how to use his height defensively, is accurate and moreover, has one of the hardest jaws ever to grace HW boxing. I think people would be shocked at the mess Vitali would make of Sonny by the end of the fight.
Facts: Liston fought two large heavies with some skills. Cleveland Willams busted Liston up before his glass chin was checked, and Ali shook Sonny up before Liston exited. I don't see much defense here, I see Liston being beaten to the punch. Vitali dwarfs both Williams and Ali, hits harder and forces his opponent to fight on his terms. Liston's intangibles and issues with swelling and cuts will be tested. And his chin would be tested. Fair or not, Liston was out cold for 60 seconds vs Martin. I'd favor Vitali.
Liston never said Ali hit hard at all. Most if not All of these things you said, Liston did better than Vitali at.
vitali has never stepped up to listons standard, one time he did he got destroyed by the other guy inhis worst ever shape.
Swag, Williams knocked out just one contender in Terell. That's it. He took some of his better opponents the distance, pre Ali. While I do think he can hit, I also think his record is full of fluff. Vitali hit as almost as hard or harder than Tyson. So says two of Tyson's opponents in Williams and Francis. Williams says almost as hard but more consistent with his power. Francis says harder. Wlad can hit a ton. So who hurt and rocked Peter quicker? And who hurt Purity quicker? Vitali's power is a little hard to gauge. Universum who managed both Klitschko's said Vitlai hit harder, but this was before a few surgeries.
I understand what you're saying but Williams did hit pretty hard man. Many say he hit harder than Liston himself!
