Prime Marciano V Tysons Challengers?

I don't know much about Payne. Mongoose has shown some fair evidence that apparently he was a highly rated contender at the time he was beaten by Shkor. I still maintain however that Johnny Shkor still bore the track record of a flash in the pan who spent most of his career in the journeyman category and was most likely washed up when he met Marciano. If someone wants to make a case that Johnny Shkor at his "best" was at least "comparable" to someone like James "bonecrusher" Smith, then at least its an argument that I'm willing to accept, but not necessarily agree with.. If the debate is about the version of Johnny Shkor who faced Marciano as being comparable to James Smith, then that's a position I can't go with.. Smith at his best proved that he could put together entire win streaks over decent opposition and take some of the elite of his time the distance in cometitive losing efforts, plus was reasonably considered as one of the top 3 best heavyweights in the world when Mike Tyson met him... Johnny Shkor had won only 5 of his last 15 bouts and had appeared only once in 14 months losing by first round knockout when he entered the ring with Rocky.. Not to mention being at the end of his career. I am willing to go out on a limb and say that MOST people would not claim that Johnny Shkor in 1950 was anywhere near the fighter that James Smith was in 1987.. To put things in perspective, if a rising modern contender like say Anthony Joshua took on a man who had lost most of his last 15 bouts and was coming off an inactive spell, nobody would credit that fighter as being comparable to a former world champion who hung with the elite for the better part of a decade..In fact most would crucify Joshua as cherry picking bums. I can understand and respect the logic behind the comparison. Its to demonstrate that Marciano has shown from time to time that he could fight and defeat a man with the dimensions of a super heavyweight.. That's fine. I don't have a problem with that. But making someone like Johnny Shkor out to be the equal of certain modern heavys is a stretch.. Mike White might be a better comparison.

 

People are still trying to compare Shkor to Smith? A more apt, tho still too flattering, comparison would be to Jimmy Thunder, the guy who beat an aged Tubbs and Berbick. And again, that would be flattering.

 

I would recommend any of the following... Lopez de Heredia and Rioja Alta are two very traditional styled wines. And Bodegas Roda is a much more modern but delicious styled Rioja. None of them are cheap.

Flynn was 28 years old.
Mauriello was 24 years old.
Payne's age is unknown but likely it in his 20s as well.
