I like Kovalev but this is an irrefutable fact....

Beating Chad Dawson and Fonfara alone make AS resume much stronger than SK.... SK is coming along tho.. that ward fight will be big for him. He's still got a little bit to catch up to super man though.

Kovalev has the better resumes, wins and losses matter in the real world. Kovalev has never lost, and has been the most dominant lhw since, idk spinks or Moorer

It's been a long time since we've seen this level of dominant lhw, that's for sure

Chad Ochocinco is quite the well rounded athlete. If i'm not mistaken, he played a little professional soccer. He also once claimed that he could out swim Michael Phelps (for real) - so his apparent boxing endeavors aren't too surprising. :yep

Chad Dawson was beaten by Stevenson in 2013. In the next year Dawson was beaten by Tommy Karpency. Tommy freaking Karpency. So there is that.

Another American casual fan that knows naff all about the pain game.

Thinks another useless yank is the real champion, because the corrupt WBC gifts them a belt...and lets them fight bums to defend the title.

    Krusher knocks out Chickenson cold.

    :?

    h2h against Boone:
    Kovalev 2-0 (1) - stopped Boone in 2nd round.
    Stevenson 1-1 (1) - stopped Boone in 6th round.

    Top ten scalps:
Kovalev - Pascal x2, Hopkins, Campillo, Sillakh, Cleverly, Mohammedi, Caparello, White, Agnew.
Stevenson - Cloud, Fonfara, Bika, George, Karpency, Sukhotsky, Dawson, Bellew, Gonzales, Edwards

The bottom four on Kovalev's list are probably weaker than any four you could pluck from Stevenson's - but, the first six are each hands-down better than any of the names on Stevenson's. Context matters. The only person with a highly creditable victory over Chad Dawson is Jean Pascal. Not even Ward's biggest fans claim that as ranking among his best wins. Dawson was a skeleton - and that experience ruined him, just as rapid unhealthy pinballing in weight ruined Jones (getting KTFO after dropping to light heavy after beating Ruiz) and Tarver (blowing up to play Mason Dixon, then cutting back down too quickly and getting spanked by Hopkins) and countless other examples. Doing that usually has permanent and deleterious effects on a fighter's ability. Dawson has essentially had a fork stuck in him since midway into training camp for Ward. Now, you can try flipping that "context matters" point all you want and claim that a unanimous shutout decision over Hopkins didn't mean all that much because he was on the doorstep of fifty, but the fact is that Hopkins in 2014 was still an elite world class fighter - something Dawson from late 2012 on (since after Hopkins II, actually) has ceased to ever be in the ring - coming off a string of relatively easy victories over top contenders since losing the rematch to Dawson in Bad Chad's last-ever good outing.

Pitching a shutout against Hopkins, even on the cusp of 50, blows away Stevenson's top 5 wins combined. So does stopping Jean Pascal, something Kovalev has now done twice. Campillo may have been a little past it and both Sillakh & Cleverly a bit flawed with vulnerabilities waiting to be exposed at the highest level, but each of those in the context of when Kovalev fought them is still a better scalp than Cloud (fresh off the soul-taking, confidence-draining, zero-snatching humiliation at the hands of Hopkins - and this matters, because Cloud was a fighter who thrived on intimidation and self-confidence in the classic bully mold, and once that mirage was punctured it was over for him at the top) or mid-graders like Bika, Fonfara or Karpency, who are better perhaps than either man's weakest names (empty husk of Dawson, Mohammedi, Edwards, etc) but still nothing more than capable contenders.

Troll thread. Kovalev defeated Boone 2x who who has a win over Stevenson. He defeated Pascal 2x who has a win over Dawson. He defeated HOF Hopkins. Who would still beat fonfara.
Stevenson has wasted his big win over Dawson fighting soft competition for long time now. Kovalev resume is better and the margin is only growing

If prime Roy was extremely careful and didn't showboat, yeah, maybe. Strong chance he's trapped on the ropes or in the corner in the midst of pulling some cutie pie nonsense and caught with something big & put to sleep, though.
