At the second attempt, Roy weighed in at 199 for Ruiz, including an estimated 3 pounds for his clothing. So he went from around 196, down to 175 for the weigh in. So 10 pounds was a rough guess on my part.

Mackie Shilstone says Roy came to him at 192 pounds with 8.7% body fat, and he changed that to 6% in camp.

There was almost 6 months between the Tarver and Ruiz fights.

seeing as roy was never stopped in his prime, I'd say its not likely.

that said, KO4Clev has a fair even chance, seeing as hes stopped people who haven't been stopped.

but soon after his silly move to LHW after steroiding up to HW, hes anyones target.

I always love the knee jerk reactions from re****ed ass fans like the OP ..Kovalev beat a guy he destroyed previously and here comes the dumb ass threads ..RJJ had tremendous speed and could crack with both hands ,Kovalev would have been out of his depth ..Had Pscal had some type of fight in him he would have gave Kivalev hell but he was never that good to begin with boxing wise just a freak athlete but no great boxing skills to speak of Roy on the other hand could do things no other boxer could do and Kovelev would have been out smarted and beat!

A win over Pascal has them talking crazy.

A prime RJJ would totally face plant Kovalev.

It's hilarious how he's claimed to be a big fan of Roy's.

    Ha!

Who would make something like that up to strangers on the Internet?

The weight loss obviously affected his performance in the first fight.

In the second fight, like you say, he was caught with a great shot.

How could he have been troubled by Tarver before he fought Ruiz? What do you mean? Psychologically?

Some fighters get credit for a little of nothing...while others can never seem to do enough.

    Ignore him.

The T/S is an absolute clown.

Darnall Boone dropped him and lost on a S/D.

Who has Kov fought who's anywhere near Roy's level?

I think Tarver would have had a chance to beat Kovalev. Not a big chance, but more of a chance than what you think.

Ruiz too. Ruiz was an ugly HW. Horrible to watch. But he was tough and gave decent HW's tough fights. He could have given Kov a hard nights work, because Kov obviously doesn't possess Roy's speed and elusiveness. And before you start calling me crazy, Kov's been down before, he's not that hard to tag, and we don't know how he'd cope at a heavier weight, and especially if he was outweighed by 30 pounds like Roy was.

Regarding your comments on Roy's lack of skills, you're talking about general fundamentals. Which is fair enough. His game was obviously based around his incredible athleticism. But you can't say he wasn't skilled. He was highly skilled, but in a different way to most other fighters. If you gave other fighters Roy's athleticism, they wouldn't automatically be able to throw rapid fire combinations with uppercuts of either hand etc. Roy was incredibly gifted.
