Katsunari Takayama is a 5'2 32 year old Minimumweight with a 30-8 12 KO's 1 KO loss record. Born in and fighting out of Osaka, Japan. You may ask yourselves, why am I doing a thread on a guy with 8 losses, its because Takayama is the epitome of a Japanese Blood and Guts Warrior with massive cojones of titanium. He's been willing to go anywhere and fight any and all comers throughout his 15 year long career that he began at the age of 17, he's such a badass he's one of the few guys to go the distance with Chocolatito. He's also one of the rare Japanese Road Warriors, he's been kicking ass and getting his ass kicked across the globe fighting in South Africa, The Philippines, Mexico, his fight against Francisco Rodriguez Jr. is a masterpiece of Violence and was voted the 2014 Fight Of The Year a 12 round Fistic Blitzkrieg of punches in bunches. He's been on a really good run lately scoring stoppage wins over Go Odaira and Ryuji Hara, unfortunately that winning streak came to an end when he lost to Mexico's Jose Argumedo in Dec of 2015, but even in losing Takayama looked like a bad ass, the fight was a bloodfest with back and forth action from the start to the cuts stoppage TD end. I know most of you guys have little interest in the lower divisions, but please give Takayama a chance to win you over, you may even end up a convert. Oh yeah.

Kats deserves it. And should he fail, he deserves another crack or two. Or three. Because he's Katsunari Takayama. It feels like he's 38 years old for some reason. I hope he keeps on wrecking it.

Any vacant title fight at Strawweight for the next 20 years needs to be: Fighter X vs. Katsunari Takayama.

    Associated Press, 2039 -
Katsunari Takayama would rise to the occassion by yet again unifying the Strawweight division with a flashy split decision win over Richardito Lopez, the grandson of the second best Strawweight in history Ricardo Lopez, second only to Takayama. It came just three months after unifying a title with the young Ironzoka Ioka, the first born son of former multi-division champion Kazuto Ioka. Takayama began his current reign with a win over Mhoshinoto Joyi, son of a long ago rival of Takayama's, for a vacant title. This marks the 29th different occasion Takayama has unified a belt in the Strawweight division. Long live...

Well, of course. He's the lead professor at the Japanese Boxing University of All Trades. He has been since 2024, when he unified Strawweight titles for the thirteenth time.

I was just teasing. I figured you were serious.

But... well, I could use half of these emoticon smiley face options to describe my range of thoughts.

Good for him, though (I guess? I assume his childhood must have been odd and always great to get any education level, especially as it's tough to go back during adulthood).
