Fitzsimmons is too rudimentary to survive anything other than a punch for punch brawl in the modern era.

The sport has evolved too much and his style just doesn't translate that well on film.

He'd be no more than a Julian Jackson imo.
Same way Ketchel would be no more than a Nigel Benn.

Watch any fight of Bob's and watch a fight of Hagler's and try justifying that with a straight face.

I watch it and easily i can say that he beats hagler.first of all bob did beat much bigger heavier men than himself, hagler is the much smaller man here. Hagler was not even a full sized mw.he was muscular at 157
. bob stopped corbett, 3 fights before sulivan could not even touch corbett.based on styles he would have an easier time hitting hagler cleanly.. And he is going down.THE NATURAL SIZE MATTERS
We never have seen hagler beating a 168-175 pounder much less a great one. However i saw ruby beating An undefeated 185 pounder corbett and several big guys

No mate, actually watch him fight. Watch his movement and style. Then come back to me.

You would have a solid point here if they were the same size.. Based your logic would you pick André ward over jack johnson? I definitely not

I told you around 100 times i have watched him and i told you another 100 times my argument.but obviously you dont have answer for it but " watch him.. He is too rudimentary" and i tell you that rudimentary or not he was too big and powerful for hagler to overcome

If i'm going to be totally honest, I don't believe you have watched him.

I believe it's impossible to watch Fitz fight, watch Hagler fight and conclude Fitz is the better fighter.

I believe you've been taken in by legend and mystique and haven't watched him let alone studied the film of him.

I was once in your shoes favouring Fitz against all and sundry, the reality is its highly unlikely a rigid, flat footed man with an open defence would succeed in today's world at the very elite level.

It just isn't possible to draw any other conclusion based on the footage we have.

I'd love to believe Fitz was a fluid athlete with cat like reflexes who could slip anything and knock anyone out. He's one of my heroes. The evidence just isn't there.

So you dont believe that i have watched him on film? It is even on youtube.. But yes i have a few low quality vídeos of him and he looks archaic and open But corbett was advanced for hIS own time still fitz did beat him. and i never told you that he looked better than hagler, just he was too big and powerful for marvin and you ignore this point once and again, what is your point? Cant take another point of view?
