They call Hopkins (or he calls himself) The Alien for a reason, you should watch some Hopkins before saying GGG blows him out of the ring, no one blows BHop out of the ring, not even Kovalev, he's as skilled if not more so than Mayweather and he definitely has more tricks up his sleeve than Floyd, including dirty tricks which he will use and he's great at getting away with it, and add to that he's a brilliant rhythm breaker something that will definitely trouble GGG, every thing that goes for Ward against GGG the same applies to Hopkins, he's defensively sound as they come, even Kovalev didn't land with a high frequency on him, he's also a great counter puncher with deceptive power, according to Rosado he said Hopkins hits harder than anyone he's been in the ring with IIRC. They sparred together.

Hopkins would destroy Canelo even now, probably KO him late, and right before fighting Kovalev he was coming off of beating 3 fighters younger than GGG, who were also much bigger Light Heavyweights. He would also school Abraham and Murray with little effort, and I think he could probably beat Stevenson even now. GGG could lose this match, and I say this as one of GGG's biggest supporters on here. Hopkins lost to Kovalev because he was terrified of what was coming back at him like I said previously, Kovalev illicits terror and utter hopelessness in his victims, and I can guarantee Murray wouldn't be trying to survive in the 11th against Kovalev, because he would dead by then.

game of two halves, 3g gets outboxed early on then swamps gassing bhop later on for a points win.

Time is on Hopkins side, if he takes his time he can make 160 easy, he will not gain any advantage at 170 & will just lose legacy points.

Potentially historic fight at 160, especially if B-Hop can take whatever belt left (breaking his own record in the process) by then to give the Undisputed nature of the fight maximum value.

We don't agree on everything, but regarding Golovkin I think we're almost completely on the same page.

:good I love GGG, but like with most things I love, I try not to lose perspective, Pascal and Hopkins beat everybody on GGG's resume with the greatest of ease....as does Nathan Cleverly. And I say this as a someone who wrote a small novel defending GGG's resume.

I simply can't see GGG losing to a guy that he has a speed advantage over. Add to that youth, footwork, punching power, chin, punch variety, stamina ... if Hopkins could pull this off he's a boxing god.

Edit: A guy around his weight that he has a speed advantage over, let's be clear on this.

Do you really think Golovkin has the speed advantage over Hopkins? I've always viewed that as one of Golovkin's biggest disadvantages in a potential bout with B-Hops.

Geez, Old Hopkins didn't seem that fast against Kovalev. Maybe I'm misrememberating or something. I'll have to watch it again. If you're right, then maybe Bhop could spoil his way to some sort of decision. :huh

Still I think he's simply too old, regardless of his condition for his age.

Hopkins is wrinkling by the minute. The next time you look over, he'll be a raisin. I don't think Kovalev was really trying until Hopkins taunted him, btw.

Hopkins to be honest needs to just retire he's like 52. He's had his day and has nothing left to prove.

"LOL @ all the votes from GGG fans

my fave is how they say ggg is the only guy who could maybe beat kovalev....but when you ask them why ggg wouldn't fight ward at 168 its "well ward is 2 divisions higher"....I mean...LOL

Don't want to see this fight really. Hopkins is still a decent fighter even at this age but after the Kovalev battering I think a W against him now has lost some credibility. To his credit, Hopkins doesn't get stopped. Although with GGG's left hook to the body I wouldn't rule out a KO by body shot entirely. But yeah, hopefully this remains a hypothetical fight, not interested in seeing it.

Before I forget, the obligatory ***Andre Ward Klaxon***
