Take the punch drunk Ali who lost to Trevor Berbick and put him against the 38 year old yellow bellied Tyson who quit against Kevin McBride.

I think Ali still had the ability to withstand anything a slow and ponderous Tyson would throw at him, he still could go the distance as shown against Berbick. I think the result would end in Tyson quitting at some point with neither fighter being hurt.

    Ali by RTD, easily.

Tyson was stopped by McBride (the guy who was destroyed by Michael Murray and Mike Mollo).

Ali lost in competitive fight to future HW beltholder Berbick who also held wins over prime John Tate, Greg Page and Thomas.

Ali 1981 was still far better than 2005 version of Tyson.

The early stages of Parkinson's was beginning for that version of Ali, Tyson though a shell of his prime would stop Ali.

Ali would win because he could take it all night long. A shot Tyson, with his more explosive style, would hit the wall, gas out, and that would be that.

I reckon Ali had been suffering with that quite a bit before that time, no way in hell was 38 year old Tyson better than the Berbick that beat Ali.

Berbick was FAR better fighter than McBride.

Berbick would KO that Tyson in 4, in Danny Williams style

My thoughts were the last thing a fighter loses in his punching ability, everyone knows Tyson even at that stage in his carrer still would hit hard. Ali on the other hand was completely shot by that time, had nothing left. And he never was a one punch hitter. But hey I could be wrong, just an opinion.

They drag and maul for 5 rounds, then Tyson quits from exhaustion. I never thought of this match-up before. It's so awful that it's actually interesting. Sure wouldn't want to pay to watch it.

I don't know but I think Tyson underperformed against McBride. If he actually trained seriously, he'd probably have a little more than that it the tank.
