It will be marginally more than a regular Canelo bout. It won't be PPV in the UK. Wrote this in another thread... This won't be PPV anywhere but the US. The only PPV fight for Khan in the UK is Brook - which he knows will still be available after he's brutalised by Canelo. Khan is a funny one. He's somehow managed to con the entire US into believing he's a PPV star with lots of fans in the UK. Whilst most people know who he is, nobody really likes him - which means we don't pay for his fights. Unlike the US, the UK doesn't pay to watch fights of people we hate. Plus, PPV isn't really a big thing in the UK either. I don't think this Canelo v Khan PPV sells a great deal more than a standard Canelo fight.
It will definitely be PPV in UK. A lot of joke fights like Cleverly Bellew were PPV. Khan has a bigger following than all of them.
He's been fighting bums trying to get his cash-out fight for years now. Hasn't established himself at WW and a fight with him doesn't make more than a fight with Bradley or even Andre Berto - at least not enough more than he demands. That's why the fights don't happen. Anyone genuinely think that if Khan brought anything to the table in terms of PPV that Pacquaio wouldn't be carving him up in April?
Cleverly v Bellew was a big UK fight - people actually cared who won. It was also in the UK - which means it wasn't on at 6 am. And Khan doesn't have a bigger following. That's just not true. Virtually nobody likes Khan. Watch for it when he fights Brook - I guarantee the majority are rooting for Brook. That it's a bigger fight plays little part in UK PPV too. Same reason Joshua sells more PPVs against Whyte than Fury against Wlad. If the Khan fight is PPV, which I highly doubt - the buys will be negligible.
Who in their right mind in the UK would stay up to not only PAY to watch this mess but do so at 4 o'clock in the morning?:nut
Ah...the 4am time..forgot about that. That will definitely negatively impact the PPV. However, although a lot of people don't like Khan, he is definitely more popular in terms of getting asses in seats whether in stadiums or at home, than Kell Brook. Kell is a joke who feasts solely on bums. People hate Mayweather, but Mayweather was main reason for the MayPac numbers. People wanted to see Mayweather in there vs Pac.
Where's the proof of that? Khan has fought in the UK twice since 2010 and one of them was his last attempt at PPV. Guess what happened? It bombed so badly that they switched it to regular TV. But, as I said, that's a solely American thing. Us Brits don't pay $120 in the hope we see a guy we detest get beaten up. We have to have some skin in the game to want to buy it.
I believe this will be hugely successful. Easily 4/500k here and mill+ in the uk. Could jump as high as 500+ states, 1/1.5 uk. This will annihilate that other boxing after dark ppv, canelo and Khan will be the biggest ppv ever without fmj being the headliner. Just watch, my only problem is this will be so big that ggg will accept 155 for a canelo ppv. Ggg comes in at 157/58, so I'm thinking he truly will believe he'll still have enough to conquer canelo. That's going to be much more of a war on both of them. I hope whoever ggg fights next he comes in as low as he can to really feel and see how he stands at a little lower weight.
More than 100k for this garbage is too much. Unfortunately, Canelo has his fans and Khan has his fans- not just in England but I think he has a huge global Muslim following. Or, at least I thought I read that somewhere.
I think 900k plus. I think 24 series will play a part, as will the May weather aspect to the storyline...Khan claiming he was ****ed, Canelo complaining he was drained. Then Floyd gets the winner in Sep.
when you add up all the die hard khan/canelo fans khan haters who wanna see him get killed and canelo haters who want the upset of the century over 500k easily
At least 700k-800k, if not 900k. It's Cinco De Mayo, both have big fanbases and many haters, both have grudges against Mayweather, and there's the David-Goliath aspect of the fight.
People will want buy and see this fight the same way people rubberneck in traffic at a car accident. You wish it wasn't there, but it's such a mess that you got to stop and see.
