Pacquiao never once fought anyone at 154.

Pac was more talented than Canelo, but I'm not convinced that Pac could have beaten any legit 154 pounders. The fact that he never tried leaves me believing 147 was about as high as he could go.

And Marg hardly hit Pac, and isn't close to being as physically strong as Canelo. Their styles are also night and day.

Marg's power is probably 3x that of Canelo's. Hardly hit Pac? Pac looked like a swollen tomato after the fight. Plus, Marg seemed to have broke his rib in one of the rounds. I think it was the 4th or 5th. Pac raised his arms up to taunt Marg, then Marg nailed him with a left hook to the body and Pac almost didn't make it out of the round. In fact, Pac said it was a miracle he DID make it out the early rounds.

And on Canelo's style. Yeah, he may be physically stronger but Pac and Canelo wouldn't be muscling around on the inside anyways. A prime Pac- with the footspeed he had against Oscar and Cotto- would be bouncing in and out all over the place. Pac is better than Canelo. I think he could've done it. He's was fast as a a featherweight, hit hard as a LHW, and was awkward. With his RIDICULOUS stamina and punch output... compared to Canelo's low output and questionable stamina...yeah. The more I think about it the more I think Canelo might've got stopped.

Canelo would time Manny jumping in and out and KO him. Pacquiao hasn't kncoked anybody out since 2009 and couldn't even keep from getting KOed by an old Marquez. He's goes to sleep against Canelo

It would not be a walk in the park for Canelo that's for sure. Pac's speed and in and out movement would give him fits. With that said he's a much smarter and much better fighter than Margo he also has good defense and good countering ability. Pick em fight to be honest with a slight edge to Canelo due to his size boxing ability and the fact he's not a punching bag like Margo or shot like Oscar

I think this is actually a really good match up

I'd say theres a good chance 2009-2011 Manny beats the Alvarez who fought Floyd but the Alvarez of today after fights with Lara and Cotto has matured and gotten older which should bring some more strength and experience

Canelo likes guys who come to him and Manny struggles with counter punchers. Manny is also susceptible to the right hand down the middle and both of these things would plague Pacquiao if they fought

I think Pacquiao has the ability to come out very explosive and do some serious early damage if he lands some perfectly placed lefts it could turn into say the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight

That said as an above Poster mentioned Manny never fought at 154 and never fought a true 154lber. Margarito was a career welterweight and never really fought at 154 long enough to be considered a 154lber plus the fight wasnt even held at the full limit.

I dont want to **** on his career post Oscar because I really enjoyed watching his fights even though in some threads I argued with Pacquaio fans but it always seemed like there was some kind of angle with his fights. Catchweights and things like that. I dont know if he could on even terms beat a top true 154 lber

I also see mentions of Marquez and oh if Marquez a 126-130lber beats Manny than whats Manny gonna do at 154 and I laugh at that because Marquez could probably beat some 154 lbers. Marquez is one of the best fighters of this era across several weights he has held multiple titles and beaten multiple greats only really ever losing badly once to Mayweather in a fight where he leaped 2 weights

First, Marquez is greater than Canelo. It took Marquez three fights before winning clear decision against Pacquiao, and even in the fourth fight, he still was about to get KO'ed himself.

Also, Marquez lost badly to Timothy Bradley. Just gotta add that in there.

Prime Pacquiao has the style to trouble and beat anyone. Even in losing, he will give whoever he faces pure hell.

3 times? That's a very specific number, care to enlighten me on where you got that from?

I just rewatched Canelo knocking Kirkland out, and the guy isn't featherfisted to the point where Margarito hits over twice as hard as him. I'm assuming your statement was hyperbolic, but Margarito was more of a break you down type of fighter and not some 1 punch KO artist.

You're using Kirkland as an example of Canelo having power? Kirkland has no chin. Here's an example, Margarito beat Cotto into a state of submission. I don't recall Canelo ever hurting Cotto.

3x is just a usage of figurative language. Obviously their punch power hasn't been quantitatively compared. The point was- and I think you agree- that Margarito has a lot more power in his punch than Canelo.
