Regardless of what you think about the weight, Alvarez fighting a welterweight or Khan cashing in, i think this is a really interesting match up. Height and reach are pretty similar. Alvarez has the bigger natural build and will out weigh Khan by a good 10-15 maybe even 20lbs on fight night. (But remember the weight difference wont be too different to the Mayweather fight) Amir has clearly got a speed advantage as long as he doesnt come in too heavy and ends up losing that hand speed. I personally think Khans best chance would be to come in light, get on the back foot and pick Alvarez off as he comes in with his fast hands. Alvarez's best chance is to rough him up, get close, lean on him and unload and he pushes him around the ring. My prediction is........ I genuinely believe Khan will win this one on points. Not my favourite fighter by a long way but i just think he has the technical ability to pull this one off. What do you guys think?
Alvarez knocks out guys who would knock out Khan... There a lighter guys that knock out Khan If Khan was a master of the ring like Floyd he might be able to sneak past Canelo otherwise Canelo needs to be the one to mess up to allow Khan to outpoint him over 12 rounds. It's simple as seek and kill for Canelo. No weight drain, No padded gloves...What has Khan got? he is a hidden gem of a fighter if he beats Canelo...I don't care if how high or lowly you rate Canelo either...this is not a fight Khan should win.
I think Khan has to ko Alvarez to get a victory in Las Vegas and that ain't happening. No way Alvarez loses a decision to Khan.
I know it's not going to happen, but the more I think of it I'm hoping Khan wins just so it blows up in Duckelo and Oscar's faces. The only thing is, Khan and his fans are absolutely insufferable.
I would be willing to deal with Khan's fans if Khan could somehow beat Alvarez. In fact, I have become a staunch Khan fan for this one fight. However, Khan is not going to win a decision and there is no way he is going knock Alvarez out. Oscar knows what he is doing.
i can't believe khan is fighting for the mw title. that in and of itself is a joke to me no offense to khan because i've always liked him but the guy doesn't really have much power and can't take a punch. the hell does everyone think is going to happen. this aint billy conn moving up to fight louis. its amir khan who gets wobbled by algieri for christ's sake. any mw champ had better get khan out of there quickly. canelo is no exception.
Canelo KO. Alvarez should be forced to fight Kovalev after that to teach him what a **** idea it is to fight a guy 2 weight classes smaller.
Khan didn't impress in his last fight. He regressed, stood in front of his opponent to much, led too much, didn't counter enough, if that Khan shows up Canelo will KO him without too much trouble. Whatever version of Khan shows up I don't like his chances much against a good counter puncher like Canelo. Khan isn't that effective off the back foot as he has to be set to punch and he won't have a height or much of a reach advantage. Then there is the size difference, can Khan hurt Canelo at all and we all know Khan's chin isn't great how does it stand up to a big light middle. Suffice to say Khan is going to get KO'ed again.
Canelo is a counterpuncher first and foremost, something Khan has a LOT of issues with. Khan is a good boxer but he has a tendency to stay in the pocket for too long, and when you stun him, he avoids tying up and will stay in the pocket and trade in a very machismo like manner. It's very entertaining to watch, but it's really stupid on his part. If he ever learned how to fight off his backfoot or knew how to tie guys up properly during recovery periods, he would be a much better fighter in general. it's all up to Canelo how this fight goes. If he decides to go for broke and bullrush Khan from the very beginning, he could probably get him out of there in a couple rounds. That's not really his style though, so if he starts off slowly and decides to box with Khan, than I see him probably stopping Khan a bit later. I imagine he'll end up stopping him in a similar manner to how he knocked out Kirkland; he'll either KO him with an accurate countershot he sits down on or he'll stun him with a well placed counter and than finish him off with a combo.
complete mismatch! This fight will only end one way! Khan getting KO'd! there is nothing he can do to stop Canelo walking him down and KOing him! Simple as that!
