I was watching a old fight documentary and i cant remember the fighter but he had said his trainer told him there were guys nobody ever heard about that could be the hell out of him. How True is this ****ogy? Is there really guys out there 9-5ing it, going to the gym after work or what ever that can really compete at world champion levels? I would think that many of the top 50 guys had extensive extensive boxing backgrounds

We are still friends, but I wont manage him anymore cos it's not there for him. And I wont see him get hurt.
It's funny about him and Jesus Chavez we never had a signed contract.
I think the fight between Oscar Diaz and Delvin Rodriguez, effected him. Diaz was a good friend of Raul's. Oscar recently passed away never recovering from that fight RIP.
Raul's last fight was brutal vs Sergio Perales, it's on youtube.

It's true, believe me there's guys out with losing records who if they were so inclined and given the time to train can give anybody hell. Some guys come to mind Darnell Boone had a good run for a while, Carson Jones, Grady Brewer and Dashon Johnson. These guys weren't taken care of they learned to fight in the ring.

I hate to see this in boxing(Oscar Diaz death..like sooo many others)..in this fight i dont think it was the trainers fault..or ref..cos Oscar never gave indication that he was that hurt-only until when ref stopped it..
So many deaths ..maybe gloves should be 2 more oz. .heavier..
    What do you think?
.. IMO-it would prevent sooo many life long damage to fighters ..and i dont think it would take away from excitement of fights.

I think that making the gloves heavier could be counterproductive, a false sense of security. You see it a lot in sparring, especially with guys that wear full face headgear. They don't pay attention to where they put their head. You have to teach defense - catching, blocking, parrying, slipping, using the elbows and shoulders. You have to- from the corner- understand that your guy is going to get hit but never accept it.

More padding = more punches. An old trainer once told me, "look at most of the ring deaths, most times it's the guy who is not a puncher. A puncher is more humane he knocks you out, a non puncher, keeps hitting and hitting." I believe that's basically true.
Take fair puncher add two oz's to his gloves and he becomes a volume punching machine with a reduction in power. Which means the opponents head is gonna have to take more punishment.
Two oz's would make a difference that would mean less ko's. A good fight is a good fight 2oz more or not. But a knockout to many is the icing on the cake.
People want to see power, ask yourself what would you rather see, a beautiful boxing exhibition or a knockout the more brutal the better? I would guess the majority would want to see the ko.

That's what I look for "the diamonds in the rough", that's how I find my guys, one of them is scheduled to fight Feb 13th in LA in the Main, Alex Saucedo vs Clarence Booth. Saucedo really was a diamond in the rough. The fight will be televised on UNIMAS TV

Do you know of any good reputable gyms in Chicago to start training?

R, I would start at Sam Colona's gym, he is an experienced pro and has been around forever. He trained one of my guys and did a good job.

    Great fight-Saucedo/Booth
    Congrats demps.
... That was such a great choice on your part for Saucedo..Booth has some skill..but no power, so very little danger of hurting Saucedo.
I did see alot of punches getting in...a harder puncher might of put Saucedo in some danger..
I saw the fight alot closer than judges..but Saucedo did win.
    Great win for Saucedo.
    Good fighter you have there!
Did you think it was closer than how the judges saw it?

    Thank you P.

Booth was faster then we thought, and he has respectable power Saucedo has a good chin.
I did see alot of punches getting in...a harder puncher might of put Saucedo in some danger..
You're right and will be working on defense, I am talking to Freddie now to see if he will take the time.
I saw the fight alot closer than judges..but Saucedo did win.
    Great win for Saucedo.
Yeah, so did other people but nobody said they robbed Booth
    Good fighter you have there!
Did you think it was closer than how the judges saw it?
I never score fights I just weigh the fight as a whole and have an opinion about who won.
I thought Saucedo landed the bigger shots and the last 30 seconds cemented it.
