Exactly, everybody knows where the money behind MGM comes from but nobody wants to say it out loud, Are we so needy for boxing in this country that we allow these type of people tarnish our sport time and again, This was always coming, i am surprised however that it happened so soon and so brutally, Matthew Macklin is in my opinion in too deep to back out but any other boxer that continues to fight for this outfit are just asking for trouble and their career and possibly their lives will suffer, The BUI should ban any MGM show from ever being held in Ireland again,
They say it's in jeopardy. But there's no way it can go ahead. It'll be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Why the hell do fighters put themselves in the position to associate with these guys? Macklin id imagine is so far in over his head that there is no turning back. But the likes of Jamie Conlan, Liam Smith etc... why would you risk it? You simply cannot be that stupid to know whats going on there ? It really drags the sport through the mud in this country to have that scumbag element attached to it. Michael Conlan, Joe Ward and co. better forge their own path aftet the olympics you would hope, rather than jump into bed with these gangsters.
Options are very limited for our boxers. You cant blame them. Besides MGM are a very good boxing outfit. The boxers all speak highly of them and how well they are treated etc. I have visited the gym in Puerto B**** and it is top class.
I'm hearing Daniel Kinahan was one of those shot. Seems he is one of the two wounded - the less seriously wounded man. (The other guy is critical. ) Kinahan is manager of a lot of Irish & English boxers. They speak well of him.
Good boxing outfit my hole. They are a front for "other activities" in the underworld. Whose money built these top class facilities? Pull your head out of the sand.
Is it safe to assume this had something to do with the family of a certain Irish lightweight? Dark day for Ireland let alone bixing
