The guy can't even finalize a nothing fight, so how is finalizing a Kov fight even close to a certainty? Is there a purse split agreed to? A venue? A date? I ASSUME he will fight Barrera...but I have doubts he'll fight Kovalev this year. This is a disgrace.
so you assume he will fight barrera but doubt hell fight kovlaev this year? so what if he fights kova early in 2017? thats not cool? you make 0 sense..... duva is frustrated no doubt....but it wasnt but a week ago she said everything with ward/kova was lined up very nicely.....
The terms of their agreement stipulated the fight had to happen this year. Think about it. If it doesn't it could, and likely will, create a ton of new problems. You really think Duva will put up with this bs again for a fighter with no fanbase???
you have 0 idea whats being discussed between both sides....0....like i said....just a week or so ago duva was saying how easy things were going with ROC/ward and how they had a deal agreed to for kova...and it easy....now they have a problem with barrera? do you know what the issues are? or who caused them? ROC isnt saying anything...but duva is opening her mouth....
Jesus. I expect nothing less from you. You responded to my post by asking what it matters if Ward/Kov happens in 2017 and I gave you a good answer. Then you fail to acknowledge that it is a big deal. we don't know everything being said, but we do know that the fight has to happen this year (info made public) and we do know that Duva is frustrated. Combine that with Ward's history of being difficult and inactive and it doesn't make for a good scenario. The deal that you mention is predicated on it happening THIS YEAR. Get it? If the contract is breached, Kovalev will likely move on.
so the fight has to take place this year....and duva had said nothing but good things about talks and the preliminary deal in place....but you have doubts? based on what? and you say first "i assume hell fight barrera".......so you think hell fight the guy that they are having problems with making the fight.....but assume theyll have problems with a deal duva said is already in place? no one ever thinks anything is a done deal till its announced as such.....weve just heard about how well everything went with talks so...yer basically just talking out of your bum on a hunch
In the post fight interview, Kovalev was the one who specifically said to Ward "Take your time". Which I thought was an odd thing for him to say, but he didn't seem to be expressing any sense of urgency. :smoke
If the Kov fight was FULLY agreed to, then tell me the date, venue, purse split, ring size, referee..etc. Oh...you can't??? Because they aren't agreed to in all likelihood. If Barrera takes this long to sign, you think Ward agreeing to Kovalev is gonna be easier? Are you new to boxing? It's more likely that the agreement of Ward and Kov is with HBO and not each other. No point in us talking if you can't understand that.
Part of this no doubt stems from Kathy's own incompetence and her insistence on being a typical gossipy woman like Arum when it comes to negotiations. :smoke
of course is not a done deal....i never said it was...im saying...duva was saying nothing but good things about how smoothly it was going for that fight....how easy the talks were and how it was going.....duva said...not an hbo rep... im far from new to boxing man...i think you are the novice...yer just talking out of your rear end ward/kova is prob actually easier to split up money and there is more of it in that fight....a fight like barrera? barrera hasnt made a serious dime yet in this sport...id be suprised if hes made a 10k purse yet(before paying out)......so you think duva is gonna sit there and take any number ROC throws out? nah shes prob looking to get every penny she can for her guy...because hes not likely to see many other paydays like this one both ward and kova would be headliners and prob splitting whatever hbo is gonna put up....a fight with barrera can get more complicated if duva is trying to get every penny for her fighter who doesnt have any money and isnt likely to see a payday like this again....and you know stingy ward isnt gonna just hand over money when hes the headliner
Bigger money fights are easier to negotiate? Since when? We're done here. You clearly are the one "talking out of your bum" and don't know what you're talking about. Literally no one would agree with you on that. (Because it's r****ded logic)
ward/kovalev is a co-headlining fight.....the money is going to be split a ward/barrera fight is not....ward is the headliner do you think barrera is the only fighter hbo will approve? ward prob has a list of several approved opponents.....do you think hes gonna go with the guy most esb'ers want to see him fight? or the one hell get the most props from esb'ers for beating? or do u think hell go with the cheapest one? so he can keep more money for himself u really are kinda dumb...i mean if you can confirm that barrera is the only guy that hbo will approve for ward...ill concede
Notsaying Duva is perfect and they are likely somewhat to blame, but Ward has a history of this (whoever was at fault) so if there is trouble signing against a low level Duva fighter, it obviously will bleed into the Kov negotiations. If say Ward made demands Duva thought were crazy, they'll more than likely give Ward a taste of his own medicine. Ward may have issues with HBO if the fight isn't made this year.
