With all my respects reznick you must be watching another vídeo.... Louis is old overweight and still you can see his narrow shoulders. Foreman And norton were athletes in their prime weights And still specially foreman looked wider than Louis .the angle of the camera is another factor
I think the size difference was immaterial...Louis was the superior puncher by far,....harder than Norton, and cleaner and more precise than Foreman. His size and build was more functional as a fighter.
Louis looked he'd been designed to box/fight, he had perfect punchers sloping shoulders. Foreman looked about 2 stone heavier than Norton when they fought
Louis said during an interview that he thought Foreman should try to come in lighter, Louis felt that Foreman should try for about 212 pounds or so, maybe even 210. Louis was of the belief, like many old timers, that the objective was you come in as light as you can without loosing strength.
Louis and dempsey said after this fight that foreman was the most powerful guy that they ever saw in a ring of boxing
Pure bull****. Luis was 6'2 sometimes listed at 6'1 1/2 And foreman 6'3 1/2 sometímes even listed at 6'4. Forman has longer reach, And 25 pounds heavier prime vs prime. He was wider, stronger And bigger
I can remember Louis being quoted saying "any man fit enough to be world champ is fit enough to fight for his country" Whether he did say it or not is in doubt but I've always admired the way Louis seems to have been on really friendly terms with former opponents and champs who came after him ie frazier, Liston, foreman, marciano etc etc Ali doesn't seem to that popular with peers or former opponents does he??
