Abel Sanchez Says He Doesn't Believe Golovkin-Canelo Will Happen This Year.

Says they'll look for Canelo in 2017, but at least Canelo will be stripped (if the damned WBC will stop making the sport out to be a joke).

 

WBC is too corrupt to strip Canelo, but I would love to be wrong on this.

i believe he is right, unless 3g calls canelos bluff and accepts 155.
wbc would much rather take in 3% of a canelo fight than 3% of a 3g fight, so they are in no hurry to strip canelo.

 

The WBC isn't a charity. They can't pay the bills to keep the lights on with fees from a 97k PPV star. Makes sense to me.

 

The real story is... REAL boxing fans aren't buying the PPV's they know they are being conned. Casual followers who still believe Mayweather is TBE & really tried to clean up boxing are ROFLMAO
Its heartbreaking to see the greatest sport in the world being devastated by corruption & greed. They said boxing was corrupt in the 50's but the Mob & the Mafia were angels compared to todays corruption. They don't even try to hide it nowadays.
The corruption goes all the way up to State Commissions & Drug testing agencies its gone way to far. Those sanctioning fees that Cotto stiffed the WBC on are hurting them. They get their fees by the size of the purses not PPV , lol.

I'd be shocked if the WBC stripped Canelo, he's the cash cow in the division but then again you never know what they will do, they do make some weird decisions. Like when Froch was Ward mandatory and when the fight was not made they stripped the mandatory of the regular belt instead of the champion.

If Canelo's next fight against Khan does good numbers I doubt they'll risk a fight with Golovkin any time soon. I suspect they will try and delay any potential match up with the hope that Golovkin declines and keep dragging up smaller fighters to catch weights or force full middles down to 155lbs like Cotto did.

Here we have the WBC 160lb champion unwilling to face his mandatory at 160, instead he wants to fight at 155.

Then instead of facing a true 160lb fighter in his first defence he drags up a flawed and fragile chinned welterweight for his first defence at yep you guessed it.......155.

This has been the norm for the new breed of boxing fan, ducking, ppv numbers and catch weights etc. they don't care, they think it's ok and part of the sport.

 

WBC first allowed Canelo 10 days to negotiate a deal with GGG, then they extended it a month, then a year. The moment they start extending it you knew the fight wasn't going to happen in 2016 and Canelo wouldn't be stripped either. That's WBC. As I've always said, for the sake of the sport they should cease to exist as a major sanctioning body.

 

its a business decision as much as anything, ggg just does not draw enough to the table to risk another loss on canelos record. they will let the hype around the hype build to a point that the fight will be lucrative enough for everyone to be happy win or lose. i'm thinking sept 2016 or may 2017.
