When Fury beat Klitschko, he was immediately stripped of the IBF belt for no apparent reason. That IBF belt made its way to the USA, where two cab drivers fought for it on Al Haymon's PBC. The winner of the belt, Charles Martin, is now set to face Deontay Wilder, who happens to be another Al Haymon PBC fighter. When Wilder gets that belt, he will be the WBC/IBF heavyweight "champion". The PBC will be able to advertise him as the "unified champion" to people who can't afford to watch HBO and Showtime. Al Haymon is the most clever man in boxing. And fools just keep on paying him...atsch
Internet is availible every where today so try to "trick people who cant afford showtime/hbo" is not going to work IBF stripped him because of the rematch with Klitschko which is bs but you cant blame haymon for that.
kathy duva got him stripped not haymon what haymon is doing though is a don king getting all americas top heavys under contract /manager /promoter ala king and will try to freeze out other fighters. he will use the ibf and wbc to do this as they will be most favourable to ranking his fighters. outside of wilder i do not think there is a talent pool yet to do this for any length of time. if i was a promoter i would try this as well so i wont blame him one thing though i dont like is a martin v breazale fight was lined up a month ago for a small hall undercard fight and a few months later it will be a heavyweight title fight when in reality it would be nothing more worthy at this stage of there careers and with there resumes of the old usba belt. haymon though has done good for his fighters. i dont know his background / so as long as he treats his fighters well / not like king / then he is doing american boxing a service and his fighters / american heabvyweight boxing needs a shot in the arm after a decade in the doldrums. exposure should lead to aspiration of youngsters in the gyns if they have role models to watch.
There's nothing "clever" about abusing an already corrupt system, it's simply being equally as corrupt. Everything that happened here is a disgrace.
And why did the IBF not approve Fury giving a rematch to their n.1 fighter of a few days prior? Maybe because someone offered them a pile of money? You don't suspect money has something to do with it? Really? Listen, Naki. I am the owner of Tretyakov Art Gallery in Moscow. I will sell it to you for a mere 15000 dollars. Imagine, for just 15000 bucks, you will be able to charge admission to the thousands of tourists who pour into the gallery every day. You'll be a millionaire in a matter of days. Let me know, bro!:deal
Fury got stripped because he didn't fight there mandatory fighter even though there was a rematch clause in the first klitschko fight that said fury had to fight him next if wlad wanted a rematch
IBF wants their own belt and to not have to wait for the "MAN" to get around to defending his belt every 2 years or so They make more money if an individual fighter with only the IBF title is forced to fight every 6 months. Of course, this kind of thing makes a mockery of the sport of boxing and the IBF. But most of the people running boxing are so re****ed as to not even let this thought cross their minds
the bad thing about it is the IBF were very sneaky, didn't make this known before the fight because they wanted to ensure they got their sanctioning fee. the IBF might have slowed down the progress of the division with this move. For one everyone wants to see wilder povetkin, he had no option but to fight povetkin next, now it looks like he has a way out to fight martin
It seems most of the people nowadays, for some reason, have shifted their thinking on this in the past year or two. Nowadays, for some reason, fans seem to relentlessly defend mandatory title defenses. So those people would support the IBF stripping Fury... Those people should not be upset. However, I am upset as I always am when sanctioning bodies do their usual BS.
I support mandatories and making sure they are enforced but I don't like the fury decision for one it was deceitful, the IBF didn't tell neither fighter about this before the fight to ensure they get there mandatory fees. also you know they wouldn't pull this bs with wlad, making him take a fight 2 months later so it was unfair. also it could potentially slow down the progress in making the matches people want
