False dichotomy. Crawford and Golovkin's career trajectories are not alike, and shouldn't be compared.

But hey, it's Gannicus (aka Undefeated Gaul) who has spent much of his tenure at ESB trolling for the hell of it. So, [of course, he's going to create a false dichotomy just for giggles.

Anyway, Crawford kind of went through the back door to the lineal lightweight title (and WBO title at 140), but given that his star only began to rise in 2013, his quality of opposition during that time has been decent- and he's passed the eye test more often than not. Lundy's a nice little lithmus test to see how Crawford might compare to Postol. If he improves his level of opposition from this point forward, then I don't see why Gauly should complain.

 

That's no excuse for fighting can after can when there's very good fighters in your division. Golovkin fights the best in his division.

Terence Crawford is 28 already! What excuse does he have? He didn't reach amateur greatness like GGG.

 

I don't get the "moved up" fascination. If GGG had starved himself down to 147 for a while when he first turned pro, then moved up to 154 when he just couldn't make it anymore, then moved up to 160 when he couldn't make 154 anymore, would he somehow be more impressive?

I think a lot of people would think so. A former 147 pounder brutally KOing Macklin, Murry and Lemuix would be way more credible in people's eyes, but there would be no difference. GGG would still be the smallish, 5'10 middleweight he is so what's the difference?

It's hard to take seriously a serial weight cutter. Crawford was the size of a typical welterweight on fight night...whilst fighting at lightweight!
People are giving him props for his victory over a blown up, past prime featherweight!

Decent? He's lauded as the next pound for pound star. There's guys like Provodnikov, Matthysse, Postol, Herrera, Felix Diaz etc. but he goes out of his way to fight a series of tomatoes.
