why? brewer is not a bad defence, but the Mitchell fight was a farce of a stoppage saving joe from a beating, whereas the reid fight was easily a loss or draw as much as it was a win (though one of joes top two defence opponents). Whereas Groves was stopped twice emphatically.

brewer and mitchell were end of career, whereas 2G was the next new challenger.

not sure why all the hate for calzaghe / he stood in front of his opponent /hands down by his side a lot of the time and liked a tear up

his style was unorthodox /his biggest assets were
stamina and workrate / handspeed / adaptabilty / will to win / unorthodox style meant opponents could not get sparring / could actually straighten his punches and box well when he was up for it like v kessler who landed 11 jabs the whole fight.

he fought many dustman type defenses / was injured a lot /could fight down to his opponents level/was involved in quite a few spoiler fights /did not leave frank rabbit home sooner and get marquee fights/.

he should have done a froch and took on all commers . but in boxing nowdays champs like froch / willing to face top ten hardest opponents fight after fight and do it on the road as well / are virtually non exsistent .

calzaghe was a one off type fighter and did not build the legacy his talent deserved.
