Hi everyone, i'm new in the forum, i'm doing some research and i want to know if someone can help me to find the best performances of the next fighters... -Eder Jofre -Miguel Canto -Raul Macias -Ken Buchanan -Willie Pastrano -Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles -Miguel "Happy" Lora -**** Tiger Thanks. P.D Sorry for my english, is very limited.
I would think Buchanan's would be his win over Ismael Laguna. He went to Puerto Rico to face a respected Latino champion and left with the title, an underrated achievement.
I would have to say Buchanans best performance was his 10-0 shutout against Donate Puduano but id settle for Laguna. His 15round win over Jim Watt wasn't bad either.
Never understood the hubbub around Buchanan-Paduano. Paduano was bigger than Buchanan but he was nothing special.
For Napoles, it's definitely the first Cokes fight. Probably one of the top 10 best clinics in history.
bcr, I think Buchanan's best 2 fights were the 1st Laguna bout and definitely the Paduano masterpiece... Willie Pastrano's career best effort was vs Harold Johnson....never seen a fighter move like that for 15 rounds, except maybe....maybe...Ali. Napoles' 1st bout vs Cokes was a classic "ownage" as they say... With Tiger, it's got to be his brutal and masterful drubbing of Carter.... oh, and by the way,...your English is just fine.
Plus he had made a big splash in MSG by whipping Marcel Cerdan Jr, so he was undefeated and high profile too.....and one certain boxing scribe was so impressed with Ken's performance, he likened the Scot to a "ghost"...and said that it was a performance that rivalled great performances by great boxing stars of the past.
Very impressive fight...and one that I had the pleasure of watching live on WW of Sports one Saturday afternoon...and cheering myself ho****....and hearing Howard Cosell bellow..."Kenny Buchanan,...the little lad from Scotland has done it....he has won the lightweight championship of the world"....:bbb:happy
Jofre doesn't have a lot of full fights, but of the ones he does have, his first fight with Medal is the best. As for Lora, I like his fight against Zaragoza.
It was one of the first fights I can remember seeing too, in black and white.Kenny is a bit taller than the records say but his weight never went up beyond 147lb I bet.
