Thurman is completely unknown in the UK aside from the hardcores

I know Haymon wouldn't allow it, although I'm not convinced Thurman is this 'I will fight anybody' character he tries to portray. He didn't fight Errol Spence when they was pushing it last year and choose to fight shot Luis Collazo instead, and he also seemed to really drag his feet with this Porter fight, and it's almost as if he's been shamed into fighting him.

If was to fight Brook, Thurman would actually make more money coming over here. His last fight I think was about 9 to 10 pm our time on PBC, and over here it would be on Sky Box Office. If Brook went over there and fought at 4am in the morning, it won't sell anything on Box Office. Plus it would have a higher gate.

What does shamed into fighting him even means? It doesn't make any sense, purely a statement used by stupid internet posters, this isn't how the real world works.

Porter's continues interviews calling him out while Thurman remained tight lipped. Porter was told he had the fight in Oct, then Dec, but there was no word from Thurman.

I like thurman but i think his self confidence has taken a bit of a hit in recent fights where he has been hurt and his power has had less effect as the opposition has improved

As some others have said, nobody aside from boxing fans know Thurman in the UK and Brook isn't yet a huge deal given his poor and very safe matchmaking since Porter. If Khan can beat Canelo and Brook can fight someone half decent then that fight would be literally huge. Very very big IF's

While the fighters he faced since being champ haven't been what he'd want, I disagree with the 'poor' matchmaking part. Dan and Bizier were mando's, if he didn't fight them, he'd lose the title, then what little bargaining power he has in a division where Al Haymon and Bob Arum are reluctant to match fighters from outside their own stable would be gone, and it wasn't Brook's fault that Bundu, Bradley, Khan, Porter, Alexander and S.Ali turned down final eliminators when they was offered them.

He also fought Gavin at 5 weeks notice on a card he wasn't suppose to be fighting on. He only ended up on the May 30th card because the original scheduled main event didn't happen when Matchroom lost the DeGale-Dirrell purse bids. Getting someone at 5 weeks notice, they would need them to be ranked by the IBF and not coming off a loss so Gavin was a good option considering. (And given the major American TV channels wasn't going show the card).

What gets me though, is that Gavin was supposed to face Bradley, and the winner to fight Brook.

Hearn said "we might as well make the Gavin fight then!".

    1) Gavin could never beat Bradley.
    2) Hearn wanted no part of Bradley and ended up keeping it in-house.

So even when there seems to be choice to fight someone when there isn't a mando they still seems to want to swerve the best.
