Sticking him in against an 18-0-2 (17KOs) banger after coming off a punishing KO loss against Linares wasn't the shrewdest of decisions by his team either.

 I think he'd be better suited to training fighters than going down that route.

Mitchell one of my favourite fighters, shame he never reached the top. But his durability was the problem.

    All aboard the turbo express

If he didn't have the head of a 12 year old boy grafted onto a man's body and he'd actually been able to take a good shot he would've achieved a lot at world level. Like I said, ability and talent-wise he was really good.

From listening to some of Hearn's interviews I'm figuring that's the only way he could get Crolla v Perez immediate rematch.

Something along the lines of Barroso would only step aside for a final eliminator and guaranteed next shot and the only fighter he had in the rankings was Mitchell, who was happy to take it because he wanted another world title shot himself.

Was a great fighter, really exciting to watch. He always took too many punches and he feels it now and knows it time to hang them up...Maximum respect.

Anyone reckon he might've beaten Tatli if he fancied it?

I was actually leaning Mitchell in that fight.... for a change.

Tatli is still booked to defend his EBU lightweight title on that date...it'll probably be the next highest ranked person, whoever that is.

Fair enough. I thought it seemed a bit odd for Hearn to put him in with a banger like that after him coming off the loss against Linares. But it makes more sense now that you've said that. It's still a shame for Mitchell it had to be that way though.

Perhaps, he was beaten by two quality fighters and was competitive before he was stopped, but I questioned his desire and obviouly it wasn't there.

But, I don't know why he was even bothering with the European belt. He could've made more domestically in-house, Matchroom have plenty of British lightweights- Ricky Burns, Luke Campbell, Crolla, Cardle, Ohara Davies, Tommy Coyle.

Why not do something like have him fight Coyle then the winner face the winner of Cardle-Dodd II for the Britsh title?

Durability and bum luck. He was outclassed in all four of his stabs at the big time, but only just in a couple of them...and had the chips landed differently he could've probably knocked off a weak paper titlist.

I knew Mitchell was doomed, Barroso is a bad mother****er, Eddie evidently didn't thoroughly research Barroso and assumed he was another bum.

True, I though Crolla would have ducked Barroso to and tried to get a unification with Linares or Flanagan, but it looks like Joe Gallagher has put his foot down and really fancies the Barroso fight, and has emphatically stated that Crolla's next fight will be against Barraso.

Incorrect. Eddie stated every interview beforehand that Barroso was the real deal. He had to take that fight for Mitchell to get the WBA to enforce the Crolla Perez rematch.
