    Since trolling Jones is all the rage on this site, Im going to flagrantly troll Hopkins, to level things a little.

    He made his name beating smaller guys, who weren't from his weight class.

    De La Hoya was never a really MW.
    Neither was Trinidad....Winky was a career LMW...maaaybe a MW,and BHOP fought him at 170

    He brought Pavlik up from 160 to fight at 170.

    Nice summary, if your objective is to create a biased view of reality.

    In your summary how convenient of you to overlook Hopkin's dominant TKO win over then, 32-0 Glen Johnson who later went on to score a win by devastating KO over Jones.
    Or, the fight before that when he scored a devasting TKO win over Kovalev's present trainer, John David Jackson.

    What about Hopkins win at LHW over then LHW king, Antonio Tarver, a fight were everyone thought he was the underdog? The same Tarver that KO'ed Roy Jones?

    The fact is, Roy Jones was away the media darling and Bernard Hopkins was not only the outsider the media loved to smear, but for most of his career Hopkins was self managed and self promoted.

    The Calzaghe fight was very close and could have gone either way. Joe got the nod, probably because of Hopkin's pre-fight comments more than anything else.
    Calzaghe's timing was perfect. Had the fight happened 1 year earlier, BHOP would have beaten him by clear UD.

    Hopkins won the rivalry in my eyes.

    He may have only split 1-1 with Jones, at times that bookmarked their actual primes, but Hopkins one-upped Jones with his wins over guys who knocked Jones out brutally.

    What was biased?

    Bernard shrunk himself down to fight in a weak division for 12 years, whilst Roy went to HW and back.

    Bernard was great and he had some great wins, but they were against fighters who'd enjoyed their biggest nights at lower weights, and he only started to take risks in 2006, when he'd got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

    I don't think Bernard beat the same Tarver who Roy fought.

    All this has been discussed in the other legacy thread.

    This is looking specifically at their rivalry.

    I see this has become the new rallying cry for Hopkins detractors.

    With all due respect, I think it's complete and utter nonsense which attempts to belittle Hopkins' career.

    How did he win their rivalry?

    Roy beat him when the fight was relevant.

    Bernard would not rematch him in 2002.

    Bernard fought him in 2010 after saying he was shot in 2008.
