Rocky didn't go to jail for domestic abuse or use questionable IVs with unusual retroactive tues though.

With all due respect to Hopkins, I read an article that said when a fighter goes in with Hopkins, regardless of the outcome, they're never the same fighter.

I can definitely agree with that. :good

But I will say, that if we're talking each man (Roy & Bernard) ruining legends, Roy did a much better job at doing so when he beat James Toney.

That was a WORLD CLASS fighter and one of THE BEST defensive fighters in THE HISTORY OF BOXING getting made to look like a beginner.

Trinidad was outclassed by a Welterweight in DLH. The fact tito was so heavily favored against a MW tells you all you need to know about said Middleweight.

Jones' schooling of Toney was so comprehensive and impressive. It was 22 years ago. I'd say the reason that Jones is excessively trolled is largely because of a single fight 22 years ago.

Bhops should thank Roy, after all, being better than Roy was his main motivation.
Without Roy there would only be Bernard Hopkins, not Bhop the Alien.

ODLH was a great fighter imo. He should not have ran the last few rounds. But Bhop destroyed the undefeated HOF Trinidad. RJJ did no such thing to a weight affected and sluggish Toney. Bhop also KO'ed ODLH with a body shot.

Roy had a big weakness. And that is when his skill level- really his speed and reflexes- came down a little, like they do with everyone, suddenly he was getting knocked out left and right, 5 times. His chin and lack of fundamentals is his achilles heel.

Sure, guys don't stay at a level all the time, they eventually lose, and Roy did lose. But he not only lost, like BHOP has and others, but he got knocked out many times. This is more than just losing. It's a weak chin - a huge liablity.

DLH and Tito were smaller and less skilled than Toney.

Hopkins was cm the underdog against Tito even though Tito was much smaller. And it's because Hopkins resume was devoid of any historically relevant win.

There was always, Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins! The Alien came to emphasise his consistency and longevity.

:yep It's not the fact that you lose, but it's how you lose, and Jones lost in the worst possible way numerous times by knocked cold KO.
Even Kovalev the monster couldn't get that kind of win over The Alien.

    You have to be trolling?

2002 - when the fight mattered and would have been huge:

    http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/stories/2002-07-10-jones-hopkins.htm

How many more times do I need to post it? Bernard turned it down and then fought Hakkar after over a year out of the ring.

2008 - He admitted before he fought Calzaghe, that he could have moved up to LHW 6 years earlier had he have wanted too. Which was 2002 when Roy offered him the fight. Also, that fight would have been a 168 CW.

2008 - He said he no longer wished to fight Roy because he was no longer the fighter he'd been.

They then fought in 2010, where Bernard tried his best to try and get Roy disqualified.

Give me your thoughts on the above.

I blame it on media hype. There were many fans who knew better and made a bundle betting on the underdog. :yep

    Exactly.

I mean, what do many people say about RJJ post 13 YEARS ago? What do they call him? Glass jawed.

Why? - because of his devastating 1st round, 2nd round and other round KO losses.

If he was KO'ed once and maybe lost a couple of fights then maybe okay - you might be able to excuse your way out of it. Maybe not. But 5 times and multiple other losses since 2003.

This is not a "shot" fighter. It's not a fighter who can no longer dazzle his opponents or who is losing close fights or not getting the decision. It's a fighter with a big flaw to get knocked out like that so often. Call it glass jaw, "poor punch resistance", terrible fundamentals or slowed reflexes..... or just call it a glass jaw since it's all about Roy getting stopped or knocked unconscious with a punch to the jaw.

Meanwhile BHOP handily disposed of the people that knocked RJJ unconscious.

    That is the difference.

And Hopkins getting easily beaten by a 1 handed fighter isn't a flaw?

Bernard had less experience and RJJ had 16 lbs on him. Bhop then beat RJJ with much better scores the second time.

Bhop also thoroughly beat fighters that destroyed RJJ.
