People can repeat this bull**** all they want. Doesnt make it true. Go back and watch Spinks from amateur to Tyson and show me a time he didnt look like that entering the ring. He was a goofy looking guy but it didnt stop him from being one of the greatest lhws and p4p fighters ever. If he was scared, which is highly questionable, that says more about tyson that he could do that to someone as accomplished as spinks than it says about spinks.

I would agree that Spinks Tyson is in the argument.

A lot of people at the time favoured Spinks, and many who favoured Tyson expected a highly competitive fight.

It is easy to say that it was predictable after the fact.

Holmes was the top dog, was he not? Hell, he'd never been beaten and had reigned forever how could he not be.

Just for the record Holmes was a huge favorite to beat Spinks.

    It's nothing like Ali-Norton.

Thank you. It isn't uncommon for anyone to be scared shizless making the walk. Take away the Tyson fight Spinks would be looked at completely different.

I'm not really knocking the fact that Tyson scared fighters before they entered the ring, but I'm a couple of years older than Tyson and I watched virtually all of his fighters, and there were some fighters who were scared of him before they entered the ring, of that I am positive, and I would put Spinks in that category you obviously wouldn't.

Hell I'm probably one of the very few people who actually predicted Holyfield would beat him, not because I was a huge Holyfield fan, but because when he came out of prison many of the fighters he fought, were just looking for an excuse to quit, which is one reason why he had so few rounds under his belt when he had to fight Holyfield.

I just watched it again, and someone on youtube quoted " that wasn't a fight, that was a lion going after a quivering piece of meat" which to me, about sums it up. I'm watching it again, and the announcer (sounds like Bob Sheridan) talking about the look of concern Spinks has as he's walking into the ring.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsMw8ysEgac

    And another poster said:

"Could Spinks have been any more frightened! I'd loved to have picked up the pay cheque he received for basically ****ting his ****ing pants."

And finally I read up on the fight in Wikipedia and Spinks himself is quoted as saying

" fear was knocking at my door big time"

This is way overstated. Most of the guys Tyson fought in his great 4 years were older and much more experienced. Many of them were veterans of 1970's amateur programs where they regularly sparred and fought the best of the US and the rest the of the world had to offer. You can't convince that these guys, Spinks included, were sh*tting their pants over a young midget who had none of the experience and pedigree they possessed.

Thats interesting--I just rewatched the fight too and didnt hear Larry/Lampley/Leonard say anything about Spinks seeming scared. Spinks often looked somber and on edge while walking to the ring before his fights.

Except the part about Spinks being a much better and far more accomplished heavyweight than Foster?

Well no one called me out on saying Chad could stop a prime Toney, so when I saw a second oppurtunity to have a bit of fun my eyes lit up  unbelievably given as a TKO on fight night
