Virgil so wanted Andre to have a size advantage that he even tried to put him at 160 for a few fights. Andre looked like a Belsen Child. After the Boone knockdown they decided to go to 168.
The world youth has been around since the 70'S and the world juniors were created just at the perfect time for ward to compete
The amateur fight of his you really want to see is one of his against Rommel Rene. Ward was absolutely majestic in it. Rommel was beating the Jesus out of him, clocking him with big shots and hurting him good. Ward had the perfect antidote to neutralize all this though. He pulled every dirty trick in the book, repeatedly holding on like an octopus and doing everything in his power and that vested in him by the referee to prevent Rommel from, god forbid, actually landing punches. It was equally shameful and scandalous. Ever so strangely enough the video has completely vanished from existence now. Rommel removed it from his Youtube channel years ago. I wonder why? :think
Dude won Olympics, nothing comes close to that in amateur boxing. All you haters saying hometown etc, did he have a close fight and hometown decision?? Only scorecards that were not god in his fight are those vs Froch.
He beat Tim Bradley also, said it was his hardest fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0YDUnC4ecI
Kessler, if it wasn't for the judges ward would have been dq'ed also the world championships is harder to win than the Olympics and ward didn't go to them on purpose so the opposition would have no tape on him, he also never went to the world youths or world juniors
its a good thing he fought tim Bradley with headgear. id say if they fought in the pros both of them would just duck their heads and charge at each other
ask any amateur fighter whats the biggest tournament they can win, its olympics dude, you should know that much 👍
