RJJ beat Hopkins when they were in there primes. Enough said. Roy won the fight that mattered and will go down in history as the better of the two fighters head to head. Hopkins fought incredibly well when they met, and Roy was really cautious of Hopkins in that first fight. But Roy out did Bernard, I think it was about 116-112 on the cards.

Read Joe's autobiography. In it he states that Roy is "past it" and the fight "wouldn't make sense" - few years later and Joe makes it happen!

Also, his Dad had to really put it on Joe to get in the ring with Lacey (basically gave him an ultimatum). Lo and behold, Joe fights him.

Read the book and you'll see that Joe Just never backed himself, he had no confidence.

What top fighter not coming from a lighter division did Hopkins beat that was as good as Eubank or undefeated Kessler? Calzaghe has both those wins and the Hopkins win.
What Hopkins has is longevity but I dont think he has any wins as good as that

Still on subject, I think Hopkins and Jones all ended rather envenly between them, but I dont think Hopkins was interested in rematching Jones when both were champs in their then respective divisions
