I have a 90 pound bag that I have access to Wednesday night through Saturday night and spend time punching. I never use gloves even when hitting as hard as I can. Never had problem besides knuckles bleeding after a while. Someone clarify for me, do gloves and wraps help keep from wrist not staying locked and knuckles bleed or is there another advantage? Because I've never had my wrist unlock in a punch and I can go just as long with or without gloves
It's my own bag in my garage but the way things are I can only use it those days. So besides the bleeding there's no reason I need gloves right
as a lot of people have stated you really should wrap your hands. There are 27 bones in the hand, many of them are small and prone to fracture/strain. And don't just 'wrap' your hands either, learn how to do it properly, invest in a good pair of gloves. Essentially a little money spent now will save you doctor bills later on is my point.
Wrap your hands up, because you can s****e your knuckles up or worst, break your hand... If you want to hit the bag without wraps, do it open handed.
Two reasons, you hit like a girl lol (joke), wrap you hands believe me mine sometimes tend to hurt after training even with hand wraps and gloves. Worst thing you can do is try to be smarter than guys that make a living by boxing...
i used to wrap with gloves when training until i developed some bad hand injuries. after a while i got to thinking it might be the way i wrapped my hands and decided id try not wrapping pros: hand injuries all but disappeared cons: hands smell like **** after a hard sesh, as do my precious gloves when i traveled to japan i trained at ohashi boxing gym, i had one of their trainers wrap my hands for me. it was a very different style of wrap that i was used to but felt nice. though even after a solid sesh my hands had that familiar pain. id advise to wrap and glove your hands unless it becomes a problem like it had for me
The first punching bag I had (I was young) was one someone gave me that was collecting dust in their garage. It was full of sand that was wet from the rain water leaking through the roof. I used to bash that thing with bare hands. Hitting the bottom of it was like punching a slab of concrete. It was rock hard. Suffice to say I didn't use it very often.
There's a really good brand of punch bag out there called 'Women's Jaw'. You don't have to wrap your hands or wear gloves to use them at all. Floyd is a real big fan of that particular brand. He's owned about 10 of them over the years.
