These fighters, while not necessarily the best ever in their weight class, would be a tough outing for anyone in the weight class. Post who you feel fits that bill.

    I say Hearns at WW.

Gerald McClellan would be a tough fight for any MW especially in the early rounds.

I'm gonna try to pick fighters who aren't among the greatest ever at that weight class:

    Michael Nunn @ 160
    Donald Curry @ 147

During their short (especially Nunn) peaks, they were terrific fighters (especially Curry).

Then you have other great fighters who breezed past a weight division, but they would've been tough for just about anyone there.

    Julio Cesar Chavez @ 135
    Floyd Mayweather @ 140
    Pernell Whitaker @ 140

Panama Al Brown at bantam. Freakish height, very good power, combination punching and timing are imposing enough hurdles on their own, but he also had top punch resistance and serious infighting skills for a man of his physical dimensions. Jibaro Perez is another, lesser mentioned guy in the same vague mould, though to a slightly diminished degree. Height, power, jab, mixture of awkward with smooth and a serious all round skill set. And Payakaroon. Defensive wizard with great movement and offensive firepower who was burnt out by the time Fenech mullered him.

Fenech himself was a good call above, especially at bantam/super bantam. Sort of like Armstrong at featherweight or Harada at fly. Highly skilled master swarmers who were physically monstrous.

Venice Borkhorsor was monstrous enough at bantamweight beating up the excellent Herrera, so he must have been an absolute tank at flyweight stopping Gonzalez and decisioning the very good Salavarria.
