    Are you serious?

Physical prime? I watched Hamed in the 90's when he was coming through, and come 2001 he was done. He was the money man at those weights, but his best days were long gone.

Funny how none of them wanted a piece of him around '96-'98.

Naz was just a name and a career high payday come 2001.

Yes, I'm serious, 29 is considered prime physical years for most fighters and the FACT that Hamed was in the PFP lists indicates he was far from "done".

He completely ducked another ATG in Marquez. He chose Barrera because he thought he was small and that Morales ruined him.

He thought wrong. Hamed was 27 years old.

He's not good enough to handle any ATG fighter.

not how i remember it. i remember being part of a large group of fans who felt hammed would get embarrassed when he finally faced a master boxer. his speed, reflexes and unconventional style was too much for other equally flawed boxers, but not for the real thing.
the only question was, is barrera that master boxer? hammed showed no signs of decline and there were no suggestions of problems in his camp, so the books put barrera at +280.
barrera went on to embarrass hammed. you could actually see it on hammeds face during the fight, the moment barrera ran him out of boxing.

Exactly. It was written all over him. At that point he knew he was a clown.

I said it was one of the best wins of the 2000's not the single best win... Those are some good fights you listed too by the way!

Age means jack when it comes to prime.

    Hamed was done come '99/'00.

Trust me, NOBODY wanted a piece of him in 1997.

Marquez refused to fight him! Talking about Naz ducked him!

The Ring Annual rankings of 2000:
    5. Corrales
    6. Hamed

Corrales would go on to decimate the best fighters at 130 and 135

Hamed would win a lackluster fight against some guy, retire, then get fat.

    Deal with it.

Corrales' condition notwithstanding, it's Mayweather's "green screen" performance. As Brixton said, he was punch perfect on this night, and that incarnation of Floyd stays with anyone in history at the weight.

Was the fight a last minute deal or what? Wasn't Corrales a champ. One would think DC would have more leverage than FM. FM wasn't the big name at that time. Again, the greats stay in shape during down time. That's why you have guys like Hopkins, Mayweather, Mosely that are able to compete at a high level for such a long time. If Corrales was out of shape 2 weeks before a fight , that has nothing to do with Floyd. Failure to prepare is preparing for failure!

It's complete bulls hit. Corrales was fighting in the same weightclass and with the exact same legal troubles as when he obliterated Manfredy a few months earlier. And he would continue fighting at 130.

The notion that he gained and had to lose 30 pounds in the three months tops between Manfredy and starting training camp is ridiculous.

Why is it that only Floyd fans seem to be impressed with Angel Got Jesus Manfredy?

He was a good fighter and was considered a legitimate threat to Young Floyd... Just because Floyd who was a beast a 130 made it look easy by the 2 round destruction doesn't mean Manfredy wasn't a good fighter!

Manfredy got a couple of decent wins but never looked to me as anything more than a C plus fighter.

He was guy who only lost to the best during his prime. He separated the good from the elite.
