A lot of people think Mayweather drug Hatton up because Hatton and Mayweather were champs at 140 but rather than fighting, Mayweather moved up to face Sharmba Mitchell instead. This forcing a smaller guy in Hatton to move up to welterweight to get a shot at Mayweather.

Hatton had "won" a 147 pound strap against Luis Collazo a year before he and Mayweather fought. So once again, how did Mayweather "drag him up" WHEN HE HAD ALREADY "WON" A 147 POUND STRAP, lol? So what you're saying is then that Hatton didn't deserve that strap because he was naturally 140 (considering the way light punching Collazo had Ricky reeling at the end of that one, maybe he didn't deserve that, lol). Or are you saying it was ok for Ricky to fight Collazo at 147 for his strap but not Mayweather? Didn't they fight for a welterweight title?

One of the best wins and the best exhibition of the sweet science of this era. Pbf boxing level that night was unbelievable his speed lateral movement countering defense and ring generalship were all top notch.

Forrest schooled Mosley when he was a prime roided to the gills monster.

I have to admit that the constant demonstration of superflous :smh on the part of some posters is still cringeworthy.

Mayweather over Corrales was a great win but one of the best of the 2000s is an overstatement

Pacquiao vs Barrera 1(the best win of the last 30 years)
    Hopkins over Tarver
    Hopkins over Trinidad
    Winky vs Mosley 1
    Forrest vs Mosley
    Vazquez over Marquez 2
    Donaire over Darchinyan 1

    are all better wins.

and if we are talking only quality of competition and not how definitive the fight was then you have to put the whole Morales Barrera trilogy, Taylor over Hopkins x2 + many others

Corrales wasn't one of the best wins in terms of a fighter overcoming the odds, but as a clinical performance it's right up there.

David Tua is 5cm taller than Floyd. I would pay $55 to see Tua vs Mayweather. That is a real fun fight. Like when Floyd brought JMM up from 135 to 144 and then he himself didn't make weight. JMM gratefully accepted the cash but was fighting a much bigger, naturally bigger at that time, fighter. That was just after Floyd's fights started becoming rubbish, which was around the time he was ducking the 140s to fight the Gattis (RIP) of the world.

Hamed was a great fighter. Quite unorthodox and relied on his power to win fights. It worked well until Barrera, but MAB is a true ATG who can fight in the trenches, but can also box and avoid taking punishment. Hamed had no way of getting to MAB and eventually just gave up. If MAB swung away like the Morales fights, he may have been sparked by Hamed, but he knew Hameds only chance was a ko.

Did you watch the Hatton Collazo fight? Was a very close fight and not impressive from Hattons point of view. His next fight was Floyd, and that fight was proof he wasn't a 147 fighter. At least not elite. Floyd should have fought Hatton at 140 - his best weught.

That one I don't blame Mayweather. I have my criticism on Floyd's opposition and inactivity from 2007-on, once he became a big star who could command the fights he wanted, but the Hatton one I don't have issue with.

Ricky's father admitted that they turned down the fight at 140. Hatton had his close win (I thought he lost by a point) against Collazo in 2006, that was actually on short notice because he was supposed to fight Lazcano at 140 but HBO turned it down. Hatton then went back down to 140 for Urango and Castillo, and back to Mayweather again at 147.

If it were a bigger welterweight than Floyd, I'd consider it a bigger disadvantage for Hatton, but in this case it was probably Hatton just cutting less weight. He probably outweighed Floyd on fight night. Floyd looked bigger in the upper body, Hatton is stocky and probably carried a lot of weight in his legs (just like Pacquiao seems to).

Mayweather and Hatton's camps had been negotiating for a year and a half before the fight was signed, another reason to which I laugh at all the "press conference boxing fans" who think a fight gets made because of an interview.

"Hatton called out Mayweather! That's why the fight happened!"

Yeah sure, it was the interview, not the long drawn-out negotiations and over millions of dollars. It was because of an interview. That's how fights are made. Call-outs.

I do believe chico was drained and we didn't see the best of him V pbf. I think he would still have lost at 135 but it would have been more competitive. :thumbsup

Corrales having to lose 30lbs in 2 weeks is well known fact. How else would Floyd have been able to easily put him on the canvas that much? Please.

Ah maybe because PBF is a great fighter who beats any version of Chico. What people like you love to leave out is that Chico went on to fight at 130 for years after his loss to PBF he even won a title there.:deal
