    Who wins this fight???

Most people will say Holmes. And I think that' likely. But I wouldn't underestimate Baer. He seems to have been just as big, if not bigger than Holmes. And was one of the best power punchers ever.

    Holmes easily.

Baer may have some success with his admittedly heavy right hand much like Shavers did, but Holmes gives him a boxing lesson regardless.

I don't think Baer had the kind of right hand delivery that would give Holmes too much trouble.. That thing was pretty telegraphed. Holmes by easy decision or more likely late stoppage.

My take exactly. Baer would have to get very, very lucky with a hail mary punch.

I think that Baer would put Holmes on the deck at some point, en route to getting comprehensivley outboxed.

    Shocker.

I tend to agree with the above that sees Baer's horrible footwork and sloppy delivery keep Holmes a step and a half ahead. I actually see Holmes stopping Baer around round 10.

So it is not good enough that I have picked Holmes to win clearly, because I have not actively denigrated Baer in my ****ysis?

    Some perspective is needed here.

Baer would have been the best fighter that Holmes had ever actually beaten.

It would not do to underestimate him here.

I disagree. I think he would've been the best on Holmes resume.

Holmes all the way, though Max may have a Shavers moment as Larry was always vulnerable to rights...

I doubt that you could throw together a coherent argument for that.

You could fall back on saying “OK Baer had a much better record than these five guys, but they would beat him anyway”, but that would be the only line of argument open to you.
