That's pretty much how it is for Khan, and many other fighters.

If Khan had a good chin, fought disciplined, fought smart, did this, did that, etc....

If he was a smart, composured, technically sound fighter, then he wouldn't be Amir Khan!

    He is what he is.

You'd think people would have realized by now that Khan's just not that good.

Then again, most boxing fans are dumb.

We will soon find out how much IQ he has May 7th, Khan is at his best when he knows he is in danger, he wont risk vs Canelo, this will be a highly planned job.

All of these guys will have to take a vacation from here because they'll be in a clinical state of shock when Khan's speed kills come May 7th.

    This is the KhanVinci code.

Khan is at his best when he ISN'T in danger. When the other guy lacks power or doesn't apply pressure. When he allows Khan to dictate the pace and distance, and is not able to get Khan flustered. When opponents can hurt Khan, or apply pressure (even when they aren't normally pressure fighters), Khan gets flustered, loses his composure, and resorts to his bad habits and instincts.

I think Hunter has addressed the mindset issues, Vs Collazo and Algeri Khan had moments where he was stunned, but Khan stayed composed and carried out his task.

I can understand Khan being delusional about his abilities. I mean, he's supposed to think he's the best, even if he is far from it.

But fans have no excuse like Khan does. As you said, you'd think people would have realized by now that Khan's just not that good (at the elite level), as he shows it time and time again. Yet people are so delusional.

I'm used to delusional fans on boxing boards, but usually that is from fans of great fighters or fighters who were once-great. Khan doesn't fit that category.

People at one point were writing Khan off as a joke after the Prescott massacre. Considering how people were talking about him then, I think Khan has done pretty well for himself and had a better career than expected.

The Collazo fight is an example of how it's hard for Khan to keep his composure and not get sloppy and resort to his instincts. Khan was looking much better in that fight than he often does. He was throwing better combinations, not his horrible arm flurries, double right hands, picking punches better, countering, showing some defensive techniques rather than just using his legs and a high guard. Early on, he did a nice job of ducking an attack from Collazo. Granted, they were telegraphed punches, but Khan was still showing better defense than usual.

But he kept holding and shoving Collazo's head down. Eventually, he got a point taken away. Then he got hit with some shots not too long after that, to which Malignaggi made a good point in his commentary, that Khan didn't want to hold because he had the point deduction on his mind. Overall Khan dominated and it was a good performance, actually probably his best performance, but that shows that Khan has issues with his defense. He didn't use whatever he learned for that long, he resorted to holding and shoving Luis's head down rather than avoiding the punches as he had earlier in the fight.

The Algieri fight proved once again how Khan cannot keep his composure and consistently use whatever skills he's been taught. A light-fisted boxer like Algieri was supposed to be a showcase bout for Khan, but Algieri took Khan off his game. Algieri of all people decided to fight like a pressure fighter and took Khan close.

I think vs Algeri Khan looked slow and off pace from the get go, Khan just didn't seem right that night. So I'm not looking too much into that fight..

If there was something wrong in camp, they can't make that mistake vs Canelo..

Sure, he's had a better career than expected, but he still falls WELL short of elite.

And what if he beats a bigger elite guy???

Shame elites like Floyd and Manny didn't want to get in the ring with him lol

I have no idea how any boxing fan could watch him fight and say, as I heard several times on boxing forums, that he was "the future of the sport" and "a future pound for pound king".:lol:

I remember here someone saying "he's the total package besides his chin" after one of his fights......the MAIDANA fight! Out of all fights, how could the MAIDANA one of all have you thinking he's close to a complete fighter?? :rofl

My co-worker is a casual fan at best and after watching Khan fight once, even he told me "he's fast but he sure seems robotic and sloppy..he's all over the place".

People say that Khan is talented because he won a silver medal.

Olympic medals don't mean **** in the pros. ****ing Audley Harrison won a gold medal.

You don't need a full package to be the “Future of the sport" and "Future P4P King" I mean the aim is too beat your opponent right? Who cares if you lack in some refinements.. Ask Alexander, Paulie, Zab, Maidana, Kotelnik if Khan can box good.. I'm naming these guys you can make case won every round of the full 12 rounds barring Maidana fight, meaning whatever Khan does he wins rounds he can bank rounds from his amateur days... On his day Khan can beat ANY FIGHTER at 147- 154.. And don't count him out vs Canelo, make no mistake the only way Canelo wins if he KO Khan, it goes the distance there is only one winner Khan...
