This is pretty rare. I think now with the way things are going this is going to be next to impossible to achieve. With the way ducking is and how overprotected modern fighters are today. So who are some guys who cemented their ATG status before age 25?

-Salvador Sanchez
-Wilfred Benitez
-Ray Leonard
-Manny Pacquiao
-Wilfred Gomez

Help me add to my list. Some guys that narrowly missed the cut were Hearns who became ATG at 25 years old. Foreman cemented ATG status at 25 after he added Norton to his resume to go along with Frazier. I think Jones Jr wasn't that much older than 24 when he beat Toney.

You can NOT say Pacquiao reached ATG status before his twenty-fifth birthday (12/17/2003 - meaning you are cutting his career off before Marquez I, II, & III as well as the Morales trilogy, Barrera II, Solis, Diaz, Larios, DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, Clottey, Margarito, Rios or Bradley) and in the same breath say Tyson didn't. :bart

You just can't, sorry. Having beaten MAB once, Agapito Sanchez, Ledwaba, Sasakul and Skinny Hussein just doesn't outweigh everything Tyson did by that age.

There is no age handicap in pro boxing. What Tyson did winning the title at age 20 is impressive. But just because he did it at 20 doesn't make him ATG.

It's almost impossible to say a fighter proved he was an atg by 25. Most atgs did have a win or two over another atg early, but a fighter should have to prove his greatness by also beating at least several of the best fighters of his era if not several other atgs. It doesn't get better than beating Benitez, Duran, and Hearns before 25, but Leonard was a rare exception. Sanchez too of course.

Pacquiao was not an atg by 25. Pacquiao's only great win by 25 was over Barrera. The jury was still out on Pac then, so he definitely was no atg. Floyd had his most questionable win at 25, vs Castillo. But before he had impressively beaten Generao Hernandez, Manfredy, Corrales, Carlos Hernandez, and Jesus Chavez. Pac had the greater single win, but Mayweather I think had truly proven he was an atg first.

Yeah, but MAB once, Agapito Sanchez, Ledwaba, Sasakul and Skinny Hussein vs. Holmes, Spinks, Tubbs, Berbick, Tucker, Biggs, Thomas, Bruno, Williams, Ruddock x2 (second time was just a few days before Mike's 25th b-day, so it counts), Green, Smith, Frazier...

A lot more quality in the 2nd list, even if Pac's list has the best single win.

Most considered him an ATG just off 130 so that is a good shout

Mayweather didn't become on ATG on a few standout wins though. He became an ATG based on longevity and consistency which he did over time. He was the opposite of shooting star. He never burned the brightest as far as spectacular moments, but his flame held the longest.
