Parker needs a stay busy fight before he fights AJ. This would be quick and easy, plus a money maker. I'd personally rather he fight the Browne/Chagev winner. Seems a more reasonable step up at his age and experience. He can beat AJ, but I'm not sure he's ready right now. His busy 2015 was physically demanding & probably needs a few months off anyway. Sonny Bill would be great for a June bout IMO.

What? No. No way. He'd never be taken serious, for good reason.

I think Tyson Fury is the real deal. I think Deontay Wilder is the real deal. I think Anthony Joshua is the real deal.

But ... Joseph Parker ... I'm not seeing it. I've never seen it. Parker is Charles Martin with a New Zealand accent.

I think Joseph Parker is the most over-hyped fighter in the division today.

I heard Parker was recently named the WBO #1 contender. That means he's going to get the winner of the Fury-Wlad rematch. Both Fury and Klitschko beat the living hell out of Joseph Parker.

Parker is THE manufactured heavyweight of this current crop of heavys.

So, Sonny Bill Williams is a good fight for him. Because Parker would lose to most of the WBO contenders. How he got to be the number-one WBO contender is a complete joke.

But Parker is going to get pummeled when he finally steps up. So he won't. Until the title is on the line. Then it's going to be ugly for him.

Why would SBW fight Parker? He makes millions playing Rugby, why would he risk getting decapitated by Parker and potentially getting seriously hurt preventing him from playing Rugby? SBW is only a part time boxer he is not interested in serious fights.

 No. SBW makes millions playing rugby and fighting cans in his spare time. He would be seriously hurt against JP.

If SBW somehow manages to get a lead against Parker, on the scorecards, will the promoter have the scheduled rounds shortened to a lesser number...???

    Only way SBW would win...!!!

Holy hellbawls, this is an epic troll thread.

He is hyped because he is a legitimate contender. Not just because of a few people on forums such as these, but by respected boxing brains.

Time will tell, and this thread will be refreshed when Parker shows his true potential.

No that would be a backwards step for Parker. Apparently he wants the winner of Martin/Joshua and he'll need to up his ranking with the IBF if that's the path he wants to take.

That means trying to set up an eliminator with Takam like Joshua tried to do. If he wins that, with Teper likely suspended, he'll be the mandatory and enforce a fight which is what he'll likely have to do as he simply doesn't bring enough money to warrant the risk at the moment.

Completely different levels. SBW needed flagrant corruption to beat a shot Frans Botha, only barely.

Not trolling as people have suggested. If he's not ready for top level talent so be it. That's why I said maybe Lucus Browne. Sorry, I didn't know SBW was in training for Rugby World Competition. That's my bad, but it would create a buzz in that part of the world if indeed he needs a busy fight and not ready for AJ or Martin. Parker would kick Martin all 4 rounds if they fought. Maybe a Chazz Witherspoon or Amir Mansour would be a nice step? Am I on the right track now?

Apparently Parker was offered the Martin fight but Martin wanted too much money and so they went with Joshua who could generate enough revenue for the payday Martin wanted.

So it's not a matter of Parker thinking if he is ready as it seems they think he is ready for the Martins and even Joshua's as they did call out Joshua and they have stated they want the winner of Martin/Joshua.

Parker has spent enough time fighting journeymen and shot former title holders, it's clear his next move should be a step up and not a backward step.

Witherspoon and Mansour wouldn't prove much to me, he's better than both of them already. These guys are gatekeepers at best, it's time Parker stepped up and fought another prospect or fringe contender. Maybe Breazeale who beat Mansour, or Malik Scott who beat Leapai and Thompson or maybe even Stiverne.

Ffs stop going on about the Williams fight. Parker won nearly every round in that fight. It was only his 11th pro fight..and you think he hasn't improved since then?

Financially this fight would be an amazing success if held in New Zealand, both guys especially SBW are larger than life super stars there. A lot of the casuals would probably overlook the fact that it's a disgusting mismatch and lap it up.

How is it people keep saying Parker is picking on tin cans when it has been clear for the last year that anyone with anything to lose won't fight him? People are in dreamworld if they think Sherman Williams won that fight. I was surprised/disappointed when people thought Pac won the fight against Mayweather and I *wanted* Pac to win it - yet Parker was more dominant against Williams that Mayweather was against Pac and Mayweather had that fight his way.

In saying all this, I'm probably stepping off the Parker hype train if they don't put him against AT LEAST a legit top 40 (ie, equivalent of Joshua's best fight) in his next fight. His management are taking the **** out of us and him if he keeps fighting against the level he is, regardless of what the reason. If they can't generate the money, he needs to go somewhere else.
