This fight is in play for June 18 at the Barclays in Brooklyn, per the scene.

As a Cotto fan, I'd say he doesn't need a war with this beast and that's all Provo does is straight war.

Sure, Cotto can box and move his way to a decision win but Provo will land some heavy shots along the way and does Cotto need to be in the ring with this kind of animal at this stage? I'd say no.

    What do you guys think?

Rummy- Agree or disagree with me regarding the punishing nature of Provo fights.

Provo looked good under Diaz, he actually boxed and slipped punches in his last fight.

Well, my initial thoughts are Roach having worked with both of them, should have an idea what would be up. In theory I think Cotto could box and move for 12 rounds without absorbing a slew of damage.

This fight, I assume would be at 154? Cotto would even have a chance to stop him at that weight I would imagine.

I could see a scenario where Cotto's stamina issues can make things difficult for him, too, however.

But assuming the fight would be at 154, and if I'm correct in my recollection that Provodnikov never fought at 147, I think it's safe for Cotto and an interesting match-up.

Although I cannot remember for sure whether Ruslan ever did fight at 147, and boxrec seems to have thrown me a curve ball today.

From what I read, looks to be a fight being negotiated at 147.

Doesn't matter, he looked much better under Diaz than he ever did with Roach.

Provo fought for Timmy's welterweight title in their FOTY, which tells us he carries big power @147.
