Wilder is clearly holding out for as much money as he can get. If he is just looking to cash out, knowing he will likely lose he won't care if it goes to purse bids and he is forced to fight in Russia as he will get a huge payday as the champion.

Only real danger of the fight going to purse bids for Wilder is if he doesn't want the fight in Russia or the possibility that Povetkin's promoters undercut the purse bid process and low ball him forcing him to defend for peanuts. Though in that scenario Povetkin wouldn't care where the fight is held.

    nobody had expected otherwise.

Wilder either wants the Russian oil money or a reason to drop his belt with the excuse that Russia is corrupt with Pov juicing and he wouldn't get a fair shake there, so he can safe some face chickening out.

And there the chance that maybe Wilder actually wants the fight, but Haymon advises him to drop his belt. And we all know Haymon gives "advises you can't refuse".

Russia is a culture of cheats, by drugs or any other illegal activity.
While there they will try to drug him, Povetkin will be stuffed with drugs, and WIlder's cell phone will be hacked. He better not have a smart watch or that will be hacked too.
The bid money probably came from hacking bank ATMs.

Last i heard biggest cheat of them all was Lance Armstrong, an American.

Then ther is Mosley, Roy, Toney to name a few steroid users in boxing.

You should stop making excuses for your boy, Wilder is going in as favorite into this fight anyway, so why are u so scarred then?

Don't forget what happened to Armstrong when US testing caught him. He was humiliated and banned for life from the sport.
In Russia, they would have covered it up and he would still be riding and proclaimed as the greatest biker in history, A Russian.
As reward, the Russian government would have given him a life-time supply of improved Soviet Steroids 2.0, hand delivered by Putin. :yep

Keep dreaming. In Russia streroid users are punished by gulag, not rewarded by Putin.

Povetkin therefore is the cleanest athlete on the planet.

Im sure he'll be terrified by the thought of making about $15 million.

    Utterly, utterly horrified.

Haymon will be hoping for a similar payday Wlad took home. I don't see it that way. I reckon he'll get $7m tops.

And who said that he would make $15 million? Do you know the amount of the bid that the Russians will make?
