I'm just thinking that this thing has more chances to happen than stripping Canelo. In what situation can this thing happen ?:think

Knowing that Canelo is Mexican and Golovkin merely a honorary Mexican, it's quite possible that the WBC screws GGG over.

It's very possible. If WBC permits Canelo to defend the title at 155 and GGG rejects, then they can claim that GGG was offered the fight but declined the champions terms. We Be Crooks.

yeah, they will probably come up with some kind of weird rule.

GGG didn't agree to defend his interim title @ 155 lbs against the full wbc champion so he's been stripped of his interim title:lol::nut:patsch

That's what their press release said in Dec, whichever side is not ready to fight at the end of May gets stripped.

that's sad, they will probably say that the middlweight weight class is from 154.1 to 160 lbs, so they won't give a fly s##t if GGG is firm on 160 lbs weight.:-(

I think WBC will make Canelo champ in recess like WBA did with Rigo.
It will give him a future title shot anytime he wants to, Canelo will fukk off back to 155 where he fights Khans and Liam Smiths of the world and GGG moves on as well.

This fight ain't happening until Sep 2017 or so.

I never even thought about this but could happen so they don't have to strip Canyellow.

:think The BIG differcence between Canelo and Rigo is that Canelo is the biggest cash-cow in boxing atm, so I think the wbc are more than happy with Canelo holding their title as long as he wants and defending it @ 154.1-155 lbs against high profile welters like Khan, Bradley/Pacquiao, Berto, Ortiz and Rios.

Yeah, I see this thing happening. Canelo bring lots of cash to wbc than GGG or anyone atm.

Did you read the article on Scene today? Oscar says the fight will happen 'eventually'...They clearly don't want it this year.

    There's a few possibilities:

    Canelo gets stripped outright
K2 agree to another step aside until early 2017
Canelo becomes champ in recess/emeritus and GGG is full champ.

Depending on the per lb penalty for coming in over 155, I doubt Golovkin would let that stand in his way.

He could essentially agree to a 250K/lb penalty and STILL COME IN AT 160 and the WBC would be forced to crown him as he stands over Canelo's corpse center ring.:deal:deal:deal

    Just the facts. :thumbsup

I'd like to hear Oscar elaborate on why he thinks this fight needs "time to build". The perfect time seems to be later this year.

His language reminds me of Arum when he was discussing Gamboa-JuanMa and I think he wants to put this off for the exact same reason Bob put that off.
