Mathew Macklin vs Brian Rose in WBC eliminator?

I think It's for the super welterweight mandatory.

 

Ive always liked Mack, but how do either of these guys qualify for an eliminator?
In the past couple of years Rose has been brutally beaten up by Andrade and blasted out in a round by Jones.
His last win was against a guy with a 16-36-1 record.

Macklin struggled to beat Welborn in his last fight, and is years past his best, with a lot of wear and tear from numerous wars

Sanctioning bodies are making themselves irrelevant

if that's true then I fear the WBC is planning to screw over Golovkin and feed the winner of that joke to Canelo next as the "official #1 contender" :-(

What happened to Rose's plans to move up to MW?

 

It's an eliminator. Not a final eliminator. The winner will not become mandatory.

 

It should be a 1/64 eliminator and the winner needs to win 5 more fights to earn a mandatory position.

 

It shouldn't be any kind of eliminator.
