You don't have to have the exacty ring qualities of Floyd Mayweather to beat Canelo. We do know Canelo had a hell of a time gauging Mayweathers speed. He could never find a timing rhythm to counter him with clean shots. .....and you cant discount that Khan may be faster than Mayweather. Khan isn't as good defensively with head and waist movement, but does he really have to be when he's excellent with lateralling and using his feet to move around a ring? ......and he's going to do this against a fighter in Canelo who isn't very good at cutting a ring off. Canelo has short stocky legs and he doesn't close distance very well, which opens avenues for a fighter like Khan to take advantage of. As well, keep in mind that Khan's speed comes with more power than Mayweather's, that may also factor in how Canelo decides how much he can open up and expose himself to Khan. You just say, "well, Mayweather beat Canelo this way, so anyone that attempts to beat him has to fight him the same way." That's not how it works. Khan has to incorporate his own strenghths with is quickness, speed, movement, and try to exploit Canelo's weaknesses which are average speed, lead feet, and poor workrate. I'm looking forward to seeing this matchup unfold.
Khan has the qualities to be able to do that, and who knows, even if Khan finds himself in some shaky moments in the latter half of the fight, Canelo has shown us that his stamina isn't at the top level, and so that may factor in Khan surviving a scare late.
Khan has poor footwork. Canelo's weak pressure isn't as big of an issue when Khan looks so bad on the back foot. And he'll have to be against a bigger and stronger opponent in Canelo. Khan also leaves himself wide open when he punches.
see the Austin Trout fight, round 7, Canelo knocks Trout down, then goes on to give away the rest of the round because he's too tired to throw any meaningful punch
Spicy left hook with cinnamon on top coming Khan's way. A Mexican delicacy so good it will make Khan want to retire. Coming soon, folks.
Could see him winning the first 4/5 rounds and being completely pulverised after that. He hasn't the stamina to execute the game plan he needs to win for 12 rounds.
Canelo went all out in that round to Ko trout and gassed himself out. After that round Canelo pretty much lost every round after that. I had trout winning. The fight was even until trout got dropped. Then trout won the majority of the next rounds because all Canelo did was stay away and do nothing.
If in the unlikely event that Khan DOES win, I would PAY to see the look on De La Hoya's face as his cash cow loses all credibility even though I wouldn't pay for the fight.
I don't see where a loss to Khan would zap Canelo's credibitity. A lot of fighters and trainers view Khan as a live underdog.
