Andre Ward vs. Lucian Bute.

Didn't Bute pack the house in Canada? Maybe its not Montreal.

 

Bute was and is a huge draw in Montreal.

You'll like the punch line to this, though.

He was willing to go to Oakland. Bute was eager enough to prove to people that he wasn't just a protected home fighter that he was putting Ward in Oakland and Froch in Nottingham on the table as incentive to get the fights made.

 

Wow I didn't know that. Ward went on a mini vacation after the Super Six. Chad Dawson was stupid to say that he would come down to 168. I believe that a fighter shouldn't be held to something he said during a post fight victory interview. You feel like you can conquer the world at that moment. Your body is at an all time high being you won the fight and getting paid and go home. He felt like he could fly that night.

 

I hope other fighters learn from the tragic mistakes of Bad Chad Dawson. Never make any statements regarding a future fight during post fight interviews. Stupid azz Chad Dawson was negotiating a future catch weight fight during the post fight. Idiot.

 

I read some of what Scully said. Dawson had a strength and conditioning coach that Scully didn't click with. He found the man non transparent in his work. Even in the Las Vegas heat the weight just wasn't coming off Chad. I forgot what the numbers were exactly but that must have been a nightmare. And I can only imagine the Diuretics that strength coach was giving Chad to suck water out of his body. It must have been like torture. Borderline criminal to subject a person to such a drastic weight loss. I need to read the article again but it was something like 19 pounds in 2 weeks!

JS: It was very clear to me as early as August 13th that the weight was going to be a huge problem for Chad. The weight wasn't coming off and time was ticking away on us. After five weeks in that 100-plus degree Vegas heat, Chad actually gained two pounds, so obviously the methods used to take that weight off were very wrong. I made my concerns known, but was basically told to mind my own business by his strength coach and that was that. The night before the weigh-in, he was still seven pounds over and that was pretty much the ball game. The whipping Ward put on him was pretty much just the cherry on top of it all.

Its like saying why would Canelo seem unsure about facing Golovkin when he has beaten Kirkland

 

Now you are pretending to have forgotten or feel backed into a corner because it was when Bute had agreed to face Froch that Ward claimed he wanted the fight and was then saying he was just trying to build the fight but Bute signed to face Froch instead. Notice you left all of that out

Chad at that time was much better and more accomplished than Bute, and by a large margin.

 

What has been forgotten in this debate is that Bute did what Ward wasnt willing to do, in facing Froch in Nottingham, facing a rejuvinated Froch at home.
We dont know how Ward would have done if facing a rejuvinated Froch in Nottingham. Its easy to say that Ward would win because he won a close fight with Froch in America, but home advantage seemed to assist many in the S6

 

The only guy Bute had a chance against in the Super 6 was Jermaine Taylor.

 

I'd give him a good chance against Abraham.

Bute vs Dirrell would have been very interesting. Still could be...

 

Holyfield is much more accomplished than Shaun George, too. Didn't stop Byrd from beating the ATG and looking like a corpse vs a fringe contender.

Weight matters.

 

Ignorant fool, Bute beaten Bika, a guy who fought Ward in group stage, then beaten semifinalist Glen Johnson who almost made it to the final. Bute could have beaten senseless any of the super6 contenders but Froch in Knottingham, cause there the Cobra has unnatural powah
