Taylor was 1-3 in his last 4 fights going into the Super Six (the lone win coming against a shot fighter) a tournament that was supposedly designed to try and establish who the premier SMW in the world was, and had suffered 2 pretty brutal stoppage loses in those 3 defeats. But for some inexplicable reason the brain trust who devised the tournament didn't stop for a second to think of this:

What happens if Jermain suffers another brutal stoppage loss in his first fight in the tourney, that will really screw things up. :patsch

Lets's see how Ward looks @175 first.

Krusher looks invincible beating Pascal , but he is garbage and switching trainers every fight made him even worse. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions based off that win.

No matter how many tune ups he has he's never gonna be ready for Sergey

Kovalev has been active. whilst Ward's been in Church and watching old Bernard Hopkins videos none of that will prepare him for the Krusher

You must have missed the past few Kovalev threads. They were literally about where he ranked as an ATG 175'er. Fantasy matchups and all. Obviously it's too early to tell as he's having a Calzaghe tier career beating old people right now.

I agree though, if Ward proves he's still at the top with his performances vs Barrera and Kovalev beats him then more then likely that will be the best win on his resume once he retires.

I am not sure Ward will face Kovalev until he has certain things stacked to his advantage.
If Kovalev is tight at the weight and drained to make LHW, then I think it could happen.
If Kovalev were to suffer a surprise loss, I have a feeling Ward would quickly jump to face the winner and then not have to fave Sergey.
I think Ward may stay fresh against opposition that is not too tough and after Kovalev has several tough draining fights and ready to be beaten, think then Ward may face Kovalev

What some of you have to understand is fighters having dominate wins over fighters that are in higher weight divisions means nothing of their own size.

Because tito destroyed Joppy at 154 or 160 (can't remember) that does not mean tito is all the sudden a full fledged jmw or mw.

Tito was an A level fighter with A level power and technique while Joppa was a C level fighter. It doesn't matter what weight tito entered the ring, he would always destroy fighters not remotely close to his class.

Weights only truly matters when it's evenly matched talents or a massive difference in sizes.

One day this will sink in to the simpletons.

What top undefeated fighters has Ward fought? What top prime fighters has Ward fought even?

I am not sure Ward will face Kovalev until he has certain things stacked to his advantage.

In beating Kessler and Froch, Ward successfully beat the best the 168 division had to offer. Bute was a joke, and this was proven by the utter demolishing at the hands of Froch in his next fight after Ward.

Just as a note, Tito demolished Joppy at 160. In the 1st fight of the mini 160 tourney that ended in Tito fighting B-Hop
