“It’s not a verbal. Everything is in writing, signed by our side, by the Golden Boy side and the WBC,” Loeffler said to fighthype.com. “We have a good relationship with Golden Boy and a lot of respect for Canelo. It was part of allowing the voluntary defence they requested.”

“Everything is mandated. The winner of Canelo v Khan has 15 days to commit to fighting Gennady or not. If they commit then we’ll start negotiating to put that fight together,” Loeffler said. “It’s so hard to get an opponent in the ring with Gennady. If I stopped working with certain people, it’d be even less.”

This pretty much clears up the situation.:good

I've always said Loeffler knows what's he's doing; if the Canelo fight gets made in september, a lot of people who've criticized him are going to eat their words.

Canelo won't give up at his weight advantage of 155 lbs since he's the cash-cow and this is the main reason I don't see this fight happen. He will probably get stripped of the WBC title.

The fight will happen only if GGG agrees to fight @ 155 lbs. Anyway , what I'm interested is to see Genna being the full WBC champ.

If it happens, no way Canelo does it without a weight stipulation. Golovkin will need to cave or Canelo will likely vacate. I'm not saying it's good or right, but if Golovkin wants that pay-day, he might need to shed a few pounds.

Me, I'd rather Golovkin NEVER agreed to allow Canelo a voluntary. He should've just fought Heiland or Magomedov for the vacant title. Either fight would've been a lot better than Wade. He wants that pay-day, though.

Well they could have this fight made @ 155 or 156 with let's say 250 k per lbs penalty and GGG to come @ 160 lbs. :yep

The problem with this is Mexican fans won't take it quietly; he will get called a coward sooner or later for it. :hey

if canelo vacates, he loses most mexican fans, without mexican fans, he is no longer the cash cow.
the fight will be at 157, canelo gets his weight advantage, ggg gets his super fight, fans get what could be fight of the year.
if canelo loses, as long as he fights with courage, he will not lose his core support and will probably win over a whole new set of fans. he can then make the move to 160 and work towards a rematch once he is fully established and ggg slows a bit.

LOL, Tom is a fool if he thinks ODLH will honour whatever 15 day commitment he gave.

I'll take bets on it at -5000 for K2 against +200 for GBP that following Khan-Canelo no agreement is reached within 30 days afterwards.

It's admirable that Loeffler thinks the WBC will suddenly abide by the **** they say.

But Canelo is the $$$ man so, the fight will always be on his and golden boys terms. 15 days heh, wasn't it 10 days after the cotto/canelo fight?

That one is a little more complex and depends on varied outcomes and money.
Not near as straight forward as ODLH's consistent pattern of buying time.
Remember, K2 said that if they can't get Canelo or Khan, then they would take BHOP.

    Perfectly stated.

Golovkin would be happy to do 157 since he routinely fights at 158, and the extra lb wouldnt hurt him too badly.

And yeah, Canelo has already lost to Mayweather, and it hasnt slowed his star down.
So, losing to a top MW, perhaps historically, will be no dent in his legacy either.
And again, yeah, Golovkin might not even be around for a rematch since he has business N at 168 once he finishes his WBC and WBO business. :think

    Never happen.

K2 won't agree to any weight not 160. Not one pound less, and this is why ODLH's agreement will be void after Khan-Canelo.
K2 won't compromise on the CW because they fail to realize they are the not the A-side and cannot make demands.
The agreement likely states that Canelo will meet Little g at 160 later in the year. But, it won't happen until 2017 unless K2 compromises, and they won't.

Prepare to see BHOP-Little g as a substitute fight before Canelo is ready for 160.

I actually agree with this. I even doubt that Canelo will be stripped. I can see some BS "board of directors" decision to strip GGG instead. ODH and Canelo know time is on their side. However Canelo will still be branded a duck over it.
