Wlad is such a weak champion that when actually faced with a man his size he freezes up like lil punk for 36 minutes.

He fought on the back foot and held his entire career and at 6'7" is the weakest champion since Leon Spinks. Just think that Lampley and Kellerman were comparing this chump to Ali just because he was a champion like looked like them, please.:patsch

This. Wlad practically gave Fury his belts. Hopefully he actually throws some punches next fight.

    2 things.

First, you're a racist for assuming the reason Lampley and Kellerman were touting about him being like Ali for being white like they are (it couldn't be that they were the #1 heavyweight for each their own eras could it??!)

Secondly, Mayweather was told by his father (his cornerman) when he fought Pacquiao to stop fighting scared.

Sometimes boxers have a game plan that isn't brawling face first and caring about the knockout. Mayweather and Wlad were looking to keep their championship win streak going and they're both going down as ATG'S. Years from now when people refer to boxing back in the 2000s, the heavyweight champ Wlad will be brought up and Mayweather the p4p best will be brought up. These are facts buddy

Wlad is quite a few of his fights has had to be told to throw punches. Problem is that he overthinks, overly cautious of being countered or caught out of position, especially when the ref finally takes a point for holding, that really spooks him.

To call him a weak champion is wrong, he dominated the division for a decade and took on all comers.

Wlad has certainly had great moments in his career but the Fury fight was an abomination. I will not take time out of my schedule to watch the rematch even though I hope it delivers the goods. Wlad has evolved into a two punch fighter that apparently doesn't care to throw either punch in his ****nal. On the extremely rare occasion when he unleashes a straight right hand you can bet that he has no intention of following it up with anything else. If he misses with it (which is frequently) he will simply wrap his arm around his opponents neck and wait for the ref to break them. I dont know which is worse, watching a former great like RJJ lose because he can no longer rely on what made him great (instincts) vs. watching a fighter by instruction lose (Wlad) because he can't execute. They are both painful to watch, and in the case of Wlad EXTREMELY DULL viewing. At least with RJJ I can watch him get knocked completely unconscious.

    Excellent post.

For all the hate that both Mayweather and Wlad/Vitali received throughout their careers, all 3 have passed the test to be not only included in the IBHOF, but to be looked upon historically as both P4P ATGs and top 10 ATGs in their perspective weight classes.

And looking what they've all done from a business standpoint as well.......
Mayweather took on Bob Arum, GBP, and HBO, and single-handedly broke the stranglehold Bob and Oscar had on the lower weights of the game.

For their part, K2 did the same in the HW rankings, taking down DKP, who essentially had both major networks by the throat and had almost every quality HW by the huevos in that they couldnt fight for a title unless they gave him $$$$ and options on their futures.
They all broke up the near monopolies that Universum and Sauerland had in Germany.

As for Wlad's WEAK performance in the Fury fight.

Lots of factors going on there.
The ring cushioning gave the younger fresher fighter more opportunity to exploit his speed advantage.
It also took away from Wlad's power in that he wasn't able to plant the way he's used to, and then there's the physiological beatdown that Team Fury game him irt to it.
Did anyone think it was that big a deal???? I didn't....that is until I'd learned that Wlad's been training on thick cushion for the past 4 yrs.

And let's also include the FACT that Wlad was for the first time in his career fighting a man both faster and bigger than he was.
Even if they were both 27 years old, the size and reach adavantage was something Fury knew he could exploit.

And before we go on to crown Tyson as an ATG b/c of his win over an ATG......
Let's again, ALSO REMEMBER, that Fury beat Wladimir on activity in the clinches, landing to Wlad's ribcage every time there was a tie up, which were equally initiated. :-(

He is mechanical, one-dimensional and not a natural fighter.

He also has tremendous physical gifts and implements them perfectly in a style that allowed him to dominate a decade of world class fighters.

The Fury fight pegged him down a bit in terms of head to head ability for me, but his accomplishments and domination are remarkable, regardless of his mental make-up and limitations. A lock for a top 10 ATG, and debatable top 5.

Tyson Fury is an awful HW champion by the way. He is an awkward, lumbering oaf. He might beat the timid Wlad in a rematch but he stands no chance against someone like Povetkin or Joshua.

a 6 4 wlad would have had a below average career. the only reason wlad dominated is because Emanuel stewart created a fighting style that would exploit his natural size advantage against his opponents. jab, jab clinch. as soon as he faced an opponent that was bigger than him he folded like a lawn chair.

Wladimir will dominate and KTFO Fury in the rematch. then many will be 1) talking about what a bum Fury is 2) what a bum Wladimir is because he didn't do it the first time

EVERYTHING Fury said about Wlad was correct

    Mentally weak

    The high heel shoes
    The foam canvas

Fury is going to kill him if he opens up and if he boxes again? rinse and repeat.

    Damn robot got killed

if pre-Steward Wlad shows up, Fury will have his hands full, when Wlad opened up in that last round, you could see Tyson was uncomfortable as hell

but that's asking for too much, Fury will probably outpoint a timid Wlado once again

No version of Wlad beats Fury. Fury is just a vastly superior boxer
