This is great footage. These guys can both pack a serious punch.

This fight looks like it could be happening today.

    Cheers Burt!

What I see are two great technical, power punching boxers going at it with awesome punches, great combos, and amazing courage.

Wolgast was a bad man and Nelson was as tough as nails.

This and the Moran-Nelson and Gans-Herman fights were real eye openers for mine. They allow us to see the transition in active progress from the older one punch and clinch style to the more modern and active style of fighting we are more familiar with today. They also dismiss those who stereotype the old guys as being archaic and devoid of skills.

Does anyone know if more of this fight still exists on film?

I'd love to see more of it.

This is crazy. Round 39, and they're throwing non stop punches, while bobbing, weaving, and moving around the ring. How the heck did they do this?

In Monte Cox's "Busting The Modern Myth!", it is claimed that Nelson averaged 85 punches a round, including a 90-punch pace in the 30th. It's also alleged that Nelson let go 70 in the 39th. If true, that's an outstanding pace.

Any idea why the guy in Nelson's stood up with a towel at 3:13?

Yes it is a simply stunning and incredible fight, probably the greatest fight ever seen on film.
