It was a DQ... it is not semantics because you suggest or at least imply Darcy was knocked out or a coward or something and that makes it NOT semantics... and also you can't spell semantics.

 

We all glean things from each other,and on that note I'd say I'm not very bright, but I'm smart enough not to argue Greb with Klompton.

 

Fact is Smith is no bum and Greb had massive trouble with him in every fight and Darcy beat Smith after Smith threw a deliberate foul a second fight in a row..... You also cannot deny Greb said all that about Smith, Jeff Smith is an ATG so is Darcy and so is Greb so who is being semantic ??

 

Not arguing greb with Compton, besides I know a lot about all this stuff too you know

Darcy on paper was a level above Mundine and Geale, but maybe not too far above Dave Sands and Ron Richards?

Darcy was a fine fighter, a world class one, but that's as far as it goes.

 

Im still waiting to hear who Darcy won his world mw title from.

 

Darcy looks half decent on film. Shame he never contested the real championship.

He doesn't look as good on film as Golovkin and doesn't have a significantly better resume.

Golovkin > Darcy.

Where else in the world is it a DQ when a fighter or his corner quits between rounds? The towel was thrown into the ring calling a halt to the fight. Thats quitting, thats not a DQ. Its resignation, a signal of defeat, its a TKO. Only in a venue owned and operated by Darcy's managers/promoters in a fight being officiated by Darcy's manager's brother is that a DQ. But we are talking about a country where the toilets swirl backwards and up is literally down so...

 

If you were half as brilliant a boxing historian as you claim to be I cannot believe you are even asking this......... The title claims go back to Dave Smith who lost it to McGoorty, who lost it to Jeff Smith who was robbed in a decision to Mick King who took the title and then Smith beat King to regain it........... Al McCoy was never ever ever the champ, you cannot win the title when one fighter was over the weight limit even if you land a lucky punch as McCoy did. then to top it off your so called champion lost every defense of the so called title but cos they were ND's they allowed this chump to keep the "american version"......... in fact the one guy who did beat Pake for the title was in fact Dave Smith and that's where it began..... Australians are not scum who just invent titles without a basis in fact

Just love how Comptons mates all come out of the woodwork to attack anyone who ever dares to challenge Compton on anything and they try to do it by character assassination. You don't need to attack the great Les darcy to make Greb great... Greb doesn't need your help lads

 

No record of Dave Smith being MW champion exists.

 

As I said i wrote an article about it and its in a boxing magazine online. Dave Smith was a better fighter than Al McCoy but then again so is just about every decent middleweight ever in history

I regularly disagree with him because he's all about the resume and I'm more into film.

For that very reason he has Greb number 1 MW and I have him unranked at MW.

I was just wondering who this Darcy was that got you so wound up, and I was surprised to see you defending a man who was a decent contender but never fought for the title due to popping his clogs.
